DON'T PAY THESE HIGH PRICES.......2006-04-05
I love the music of Bustan Abraham and wanted so much to find more copies and DID!!!!! On the "CD Baby" website. Oh my gosh and cheap!!!! I'm getting them all!!!!
Brilliant!.......2003-06-24
Bustan Abraham is arguably the best music to ever come out of Israel. A fusion Sefardi/Mizrahi Jewish and Arab group, the tracks are mostly instrumental, and run the spectrum from haunting to sprightly. Aurally rich, Bustan's music leans heavily to stringed instruments and flutes/pipes, creating a deep, mellow atmosphere so true to its sources one can almost smell Turkish coffee and rosewater hookah smoke when listening. "Pictures Through The Painted Window" is more interesting and smoother than their first, eponymous, album, if not quite as lush as their later masterpiece, "Fanar," which features guest artist work from Indian master percussionist Ustad Zakir Hussein. But all the group's work is worth owning. You'll listen to it over and over again!
THAT IS IT!!!!.......2002-04-15
This must be the middle-east peace!!!! ..Wonderful ethnic music performance from Israel...Arabic, Turkish,Persian,Indian melodies alltogether..It couldn't be better than this.Especially the percussionist Zohar Fresco shows a splendid musicianship.
I would suggest you to listen to all the albums of this band..The albums by Bustan Abraham named as Hamsa ,Fanar,Ashra are also very good..
They also appeared with very different musicians from all over the world.Such as Ross Daly(with him they have an album called Abadai..excellent!!!!!),Hariprasad Charusia.
A brilliant mix of western & oriental influences.......1999-07-14
The artist's name means, in both Hebrew & Arabic, the orchard or garden of Abraham, father of both Jew & Arab. Their music is so vibrant, alive, different from most other "world music" groups around today. I first heard them perform at the festival in Lille, France where we were also appearing with an Israeli-Palestinian production of "Romeo & Juliet". Our whole ensemble went crazy for them. I can't wait for them to release a live concert album.
A great example of music fusion where east meets west!.......1999-02-06
This second album by Bustan Abraham is a worthy successor to their debut album in 1992. The group, composed of Israeli Jews and Arabs, provide a largely instrumental album that fuses the music and instruments of the west(flute, violin, guitar and banjo) with that of the east(oud, qanoun, and various percussion)to produce a sound that takes you along with it like a magic carpet. This is an album I never tire of hearing. From the beautiful solo flute introduction in "The Walls of Jericho" to the unusually captivating vocals in "Muwashah," this is a trip one wants to take over and over.
