Ghazals with distinction.......2003-06-29

This is an album crowning Naushad's more than 50 years in the Indian music industy. I can't comment on Naushad's lyrics since I do not understand urdu but his music is haunting. Uttam Singh has arranged Naushad's classically oriented melodies for a modern feel and Hariharan's vocals are enchanting. I was almost moved to tears by the passion in Hariharan's voice when I first heard him sing Mujko Maaf. His rendition of Aabadiyon, a testament to his classical music training, was equally touching. A must-hear album for ghazal conoisseurs.
