Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The REAL Sound of Brazil.......2004-08-13

I first heard Wanda Sa in 1965 when she had come to America with Sergio Mendes. At the time I was impressed with her quiet presentation of beautiful Brazilian music. Unfortunately, she disappeared from the musical scene. For years I looked for her, realizing that she had a quality that no other Brazilian singer possessed. Fortunately, she is back with us and blessing us with her wonderful voice, her outstanding presentation and her undying talent. When I found her online I immediately bought all of her CDs that are available. To review one is to review them all. When I listen to Wanda, in my mind I can be on a beach in Ipanama, Canoa Quebrada, Morro Branco or Jericoacoara feeling the warm sand, the Atlantic Ocean, the warm breezes or the unlimited starlight night with the whole Southern Hemisphere laid out in front of me. She is the essence of Brazil with her warm, sexy voice and impecable backing, be it a small group or a larger band. She begins where Astrud, Gal, Nara, Regina and other Brazilian singers left off. Just one example is "O Amor Que Acabou"; when I listen to that song I'm immediately transfered to a beach somewhere in Brazil with all the wonderous adventures that Brazil contains. If you really want to know the depths of Brazil, this is one of the five CD's to buy.
