Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars My New Favorite.......2007-01-06

I've heard her songs before that were sampled on compilation CDs. But, I was not aware of the artist. I really like her voice, as well as, the soulful Brazilian rhythms featured on this album. My favorite is "Dona Musica".

3 out of 5 stars Pretty, but not very engaging.......2003-06-20

Super-mellow, downtempo electronic soul ballads, sort of in a languid, Sade-ish mode. Not my cup of tea, really, and not as engaging or as stylistically adventurous as other releases on the Trama label. Still, if you just want some relaxing makeout music, sung in another language, this might fit the bill.

5 out of 5 stars Another Brazillian Queen hits the scene.......2002-10-15

The Trama label have been churning out some good releases recently check out Jair Oliviera and Max de Castro. However, this is all about the lady of the moment Patricia Marx. The art of a great artist is the ability to capture your imagination no matter what language that they sing in. I can go merrily along gently humming to this album without any regard for it being sung mainly in Portugese.

With the likes of Bebel Gilberto, not having released anything in a couple of years this is an opportunity for Patricia to stake her claim in the nu-Brazillian movement and she does with great aplomb. This album contains a great blend of soulful vocals with electronica and even a bit of hip hop and still manages to maintain a balance that one wouldn't expect from such various sources. There are production credits to Britain's 4Hero (she appeared on their creating patterns album earlier this year). It is even quite amazing when she actually launches into an English vocal with "Close" that you are a bit taken aback that you can actually understand the lyrics (non-Portugese speakers of course). I really can't recommend this highly enough and like Bebel's Tanto Tempo this will still be in my CD changer in a couple of years time.
