Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Tres Magnifique!.......2004-07-22

What an emotional whirly-bird this disc is! Alternately soaring and rumbling, sometimes silly, occasionally sinister. Fersen blends styles from around the spectrum into a fun stew. There is a bit of Tom Waits in here, some gypsy, some Bal Musette, some jazz, some tango. Some highlights: Bucephal - a drunken carnival that lurches along on high-octane accordian. Les Papillons -- almost nostalgic vintage French lounge music. Moi Qui Me Croyant un Saint -- cigarette-stained Waitsian yearnings.

I understand almost none of the lyrics (it is all in French), but no matter. This album transports you into Fersen's world. I'm not sure what all the rules may be in that world, but it's a great place to hang out for a while.

5 out of 5 stars Nice taste for music !.......2004-06-18

Thomas is somewhat like TOM WAITS,I think. The arrangement is superb and elegant and romantic. This guy knows how to make his music flow into the air freely. Moreover, his voice is elastic, stylistic. Many musical influences is heard throughout the album. The important thing is the rhythm is cooked cheerfully and nihilistically.Old time music and modern music are mixed with good balance. This is the must item for real music lovers.

5 out of 5 stars Sa-mooth.......2003-03-04

it's fun to just curl up with this playing, and relax...you can do anything with it playing, and when it's all over you feel refreshed, and you want more of it.

5 out of 5 stars Fersen will be a giant!.......2000-01-04

We still talk about Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, ýdith Piaf, Boris Vian, Lýo Ferrý and Jean Ferrat. (in Quebec, for sure) All these singer are giants in the french music world. So what? Thomas Fersen will be a giant too!

This album, ýle jour du poissoný is one of the four albums of Fersen, but is for me, the best one or, rather, the one to start with, because they are all great!

This album is a blend of jazz, bossa-nova, almost salsa, gypsie and popular music. All the songs are uniques and differents. This album is a sun in a house or an appartment, it puts love, hope, and smile in everybody's heart.

In more, the lyrics are so beautiful! Fersen is a poet, a great composer and a great singer.

This album bring together his romantic voice, a piano, a double-bass, different percussions, guitars, some brass, violons,a clarinet, and an accordion! (not all on the same song!)

You will listen of Thomas Fersen, as much as all the giants of french music!
