4 out of 5 stars Editorial Review.......2006-11-06

"The oft heard complaint that there's no originality in today's instrumental music gets a hearty challenge from violinist Willie Royal and acoustic guitarist Wolfgang Fink, collectively known to the world beat audience as Willie and Lobo. The duo base their hypnotic, Corona sipping, Puerto Vallarta bar based sound on various rhythmic elements, including ideas from traditional flamenco, and even classical improvisations. Their sophomore effort, Fandango Nights picks up where their debut left off, with Royal taking his strings to new romantic and percussive heights as Fink lays a Strunz & Farah like groove. The spiciest cuts offer rollicking swings and hints of rock and jazz (check out co-producer Rick Braun's trumpet on the title track). There's even a fascinating take on an Irish jig. But on the downside there seems to be too much jaunty experimentation ('Sweet Meanderings' is right) and attempts to be compositionally meaningful (read: dry balladry). With mostly sparse production, 14 cuts seems to be pushing it. Fuller and tighter might take this phenomenally unique pair to even greater heights. ~ Jonathan Widran, All Music Guide"

5 out of 5 stars Fandango Night is Fantastic.......2006-02-18

I recently purchased my third copy of the CD. My kids keep stealing my copies. This instrumental album is pure joy. Willie and Lobo capure the feeling of far off places and on a long trip this CD is an essential. I have all of their CDs, but this one is their best. Enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful music. Gypsy and mid-eastern influences........2004-01-01

Lively, non-conventional, and very pleasant music. Expect to be positively surprised.

The style seems to be a combination of gypsy, flamenco, Arabic tunes and fast-paced rhythms, blended to form something quite distinctive.

Each piece has an interesting name.

There is a piece called "plight of the whales", sad and majestic; close your eyes when you listen to this, and you will see our mammalian cousins, sad and stately, forgiving us as they perish.

Another piece is called "A dozen camels", in honor of the price that a desert-dweller has to pay his loved one's family, to win a bride. Close your eyes, and you'll imagine the camels, one after the other, moving with their regal gait down the sand, and our man, spent with his efforts to earn the money for the beasts, but content with the thought of winning his woman.

There's also a piece called Umm Koulsoum, who I hear was a great Egyptian singer. I closed my eyes but couldn't see anything, maybe because I don't know anything about her :-) so I just closed my eyes and listened to the lovely music!

5 out of 5 stars I come back to this album over and over again. 5 STARS!.......2003-11-21

I first heard this album almost 5 yrs ago, I think, and it still stays with me. Anytime I want music, but don't know what I want to listen to, (too many choices hahaha!) THIS is the album I always reach for. Just sit back and it will take you to sensual sunny, summertime zones you won't want to come back from.
One song sounds like you have been plopped down in ancient Morocco, another will have you toe-tapping all over the house. Each one has a flavor that brings me wonderful unique images.

When the album ends, I always catch myself wishing there was more, and I usually end up playing it over again!

I hope to be able to see them live someday. I have given this album as a gift already twice, and to ppl that are music-finicky. They both loved it.
You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Toe tapping of a good time.......2002-06-10

I play this CD every morning. It'll make you salsa around in your own room! Great CD, perfect for a dinner party!
