5 out of 5 stars Sweet and Soft.......2007-01-16

A very nice album of this talented Japanese singer, Maaya Sakamoto. The songs are sweet and soft, with original melodies composed by the keen Yoko Kanno, who is also the producer of the album. Here you will find the most important singles of Maaya, some of which are themes of famous anime series such as "Escaflowne" and "Sakura Card Captors", together with some new songs. "Kiseki no Umi", theme of "Record of Lodoss War", is incrediblely beautiful. Actually, all songs are great, without exception. Enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars A "WONDERFUL" album, but not the best in my heart.......2006-02-11

Although I've collected all the 9 albums of Maaya, and all of them are JP version,I ordered this item for some other reason.
From her first single "YAKUSOKU WA IRANAI" to the latest album "YUNAGI LOOP",Maaya always do her best to let everyboby listen a wonderful female voice from another country in different language. As one of her early albums and songs,Maaya performed much better in this one than some of the recent works.I vote it only 4 stars because in the year 2002,there's one best album of hers. The name is "LETTER~Bring to Light~".It's a theatrical music play written by Tama Shouichi, performed by Maaya and Watanabe Ken.It's a moving love story between Takumi(Watanabe) & Ritsuko(Maaya). All the songs performed by Maaya or feature with Watanabe are beautiful, such as "Remains" "Rain" "Dear you".This was the BEST one of Maaya's albums,it's absolutely a 5-star one.But the wonder one was a "Limited-order" production and today there's no way to find a brand-new piece, even a second-hand copy. What a pity for the sad news. So,"LETTER" becomes 5-STAR in my heart.I want to give this one 4 stars and half, but AMAZON seems don't have that voting level ^_^
Although "HOTCHPOTCH" voted by me to be a 4-star one,it actually can get 5.And I also wish you to enjoy the music brought by Maaya.

5 out of 5 stars "Hotchpotch" Released in the US!.......2005-08-15

This album is the US release (by Geneon Entertainment) of Maaya Sakamoto's first single collection "Hotchpotch". Originally released in late 1999, it contains most of Maaya's early singles - almost entirely anime-related songs.
For anyone getting into Japanese pop or anime music, Maaya is one of the strongest and most recognizible voices in the buisness and this album is a great one to start out with. The album contains a lot of strong tracks including the Esscflowne theme "Yakusoku wa Iranai" along with almost all the other Escaflowne insert songs and several great songs (like "Bokura no Rekishi") from other anime. In addition it has several original tracks only availiable on this collection.
It's a great album and at the new low US-release price (rather than the $30 Japanese sticker), it's a great deal.
