Customer Reviews:
One of the greatest bands ever!!!.......2006-02-26
D.R.I. is one of the most consistent bands ever.
Every album is incredibly solid and this one is
no exception. Full Speed Ahead is definitly their
heaviest and most METAL album to date. If you
like metal or punk you must buy this totally
awsome album.
Talk about running out of ideas...a sad end to a great band.......2005-12-21
"Full Speed Ahead" starts off with the super hardcordesque "Problem Addict" which isn't any good...and that's how most of the album remains.
It was clear after 1992's 'Definition' that the once classic D.R.I. method of hardcore meets Thrash metal was through with. "Full Speed Ahead" has all the elements to lend it a winning hand, it has hardcore, Thrash and even Death Metal elements, but it fails at being an even halfway decent album.
The only good songs: "I'm the Liar", "They Don't Care", and the based on a true story in Oakland thriller "Syringes in the Sandbox". Other than that, the rest of the albums sucks hard. Should've gone the hypertechnical death metal route if they wanted to stay afloat. That's probably the only way they could've survived during the 90s. Or maybe they should've done what all the non-platinum level Thrash artists did, which was just to fade out.
Seeing how it's been ten years since their last album one has to wonder if they have enough in them to record another album. I ask Kurt that same question everytime I see him. His response, "We don't have the money." With all these Thrash bands coming back to record, Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Sadus, Testament, etc. one would think that now would be the time to record a new album because I hope that FSA isn't the last D.R.I. album -that'd just be pathetic.
"CHUMLY" makes this the best D.R.I. record of all time!.......2005-03-09
This album is the debut for the infamous bass player known only as "CHUMLY". He was huge! This was by far the best version of the band and even though the scene was dying during that period, DRI was still going strong. Unfortunately it was also the last DRI record ever released. Chumly is now in another hardcore band named "Doomsday Device". He is one of the best metal/hardcore bass players out there. He has a unique tone and style that makes him stand out. That and he weighs over 300lbs!
That was the last decent version of DRI. They are still going strong but they just aren't the same without Chumly. Does anybody know why he quit?
Eardrum Bliss.......2004-02-10
Any punk who hates metal should listen to this record. Any metalhead who hates punk should listen to this record. "They Don't Care" is the greatest song ever laid down on magnetic tape, with Megadeth's "Hangar 18" a distant second. I don't think I have heard a better album front to back, and my collection has everything from funk jazz & rap to blues reggae & ska.
D.R.I. for the 90's.......2001-08-14
after all the years, D.R.I still delivers a hammer of kick'n music. here they also redo some of the older classics on this LP.
