Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Three great albums for one great price!.......2005-01-28

Yes that's right, you get 3 albums on 2 discs. This set contains all the material from Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, and Virgin Killer. I had been waiting for Hip-O to release remastered versions of these albums in the USA, as they did with Lonesome Crow, Taken By Force, and Tokyo Tapes. But when I saw this offering, with a reasonable price, I knew my wait was over.

I hadn't heard these albums for years as I last owned the cassettes during the late 1980's. The music has been remastered and, in my humble opinion, sounds great. The packaging is excellent with the 2 cd's housed in a fold out digi-pack. A nice booklet is included with original album art, a very brief biography of the band up to the release of Virgin Killers, numerous band photos, and lyrics. I, for one, am very pleased to have the lyrics as I often have a hard time figuring out what the heck Klaus Meine is saying.

The track listing for each disc is as follows:
DISC 1
In Trance:
1) Dark Lady
2) In Trance
3) Life's Like A River
4) Top Of The Bill
5) Living And Dying
6) Robot Man
7) Evening Wind
8) Sun In My Hand
9) Longing For Fire
10) Night Lights
Fly To The Rainbow:
11) Speedy's Coming
12) They Need A Million
13) Drifting Sun

DISC 2
Virgin Killer:
1) Pictured Life
2) Catch Your Train
3) In Your Park
4) Backstage Queen
5) Virgin Killer
6) Hell-Cat
7) Crying Days
8) Polar Nights
9) Yellow Raven
Fly To The Rainbow:
10) Fly People Fly
11) This Is My Song
12) Far Away
13) Fly To The Rainbow

The standard warning on Scorpions music applies here. This isn't the Scorpion's everyone knows and loves from the 1980's and early 1990's. Their sound was very different during the 1970's and Ulrich Roth's influence is very prominent on these albums. His songs are more jazz/psychedelic and his singing is very different than Klaus Meine's. Someone exploring 1970's era Scorpions for the first time may want to start with Taken By Force or the excellent live album Tokyo Tapes as the price is much lower and both albums are a good representation of the band's sound during this time. For everyone else familiar with the Scorpions of the 1970's, buy this set! You won't be disappointed. Where else can you get three great import albums for under $30? The total cost of these three albums individually is over $70!
