5 out of 5 stars 1977, Municipal Aud. Opened for Rush (Out-performed Rush).......2004-07-17

LD came to SA twice in a year. That was when most played the Municipal auditorium, a much better place than that wickedly bad sounding place, the Convention Center Arena (where the Spurs played). They should have headlined and let Rush open for them and no one would have thought anything odd at the end of the night. I suppose by then Rush was, "Back to good old San Antonio...Lou and the Godfather will play us all night, ay", and I'm sure they did okay but everybody I was with only talked about Legs Diamond the next day.

The second album, ADIAHR, was also superb. All good stuff. The Zoom CDs sound EXACTLY like the LPs, so I don't think Mike did any real changes to the master, which is good because, well, because there's no need for it.

After the first two LPs I moved out of country so didn't keep up. I was playing the LPs until I finally got the CDs at Backstage way back in May 2000. I've got the Live CD, too, done at 1990's La Semana Party Week (they don't do that anymore).

5 out of 5 stars Buy this one rather than the second album (CD).......2004-05-28

"A Diamond is a Hard Rock" (red album cover) is not "bad" but this, their orginal I believe, is hard to beat by any band, in any other album - period. It's that good and at least twice as good as "A Diamond is a Hard Rock". I used to own both on vinyl but lost this one. Still $33.00 is hard to swallow but if you want something really great to show off to your friends - this is it! This band sounds a little like Boston on testosterone HRT - more hard rockish. The sound mix was way, way ahead of it's time, imo (sort of like Boston) and the awsome talent of the band will blow you away from the moment you hear the first chord. I can't understand why they never made it bigtime. The only way I found out about them was through a friend. Probably they never received any air time on the radio so nobody really heard them enough. Who knows. If you like hard rock you'll absolutely love this stuff. You definitely will love it. It's a real find.

5 out of 5 stars Underrated seventies California band!.......2003-05-06

I wore out my vinyl copy of this album during my high school days. I was glad to find out this was reissued with a great bonus track on disk. The band have been described as the American version of Deep Purple probably due to the fact that this album was produced by former Deep Purple producer Derek Lawrence but I think they sound more like Montrose. The band opened for such people as Kiss, Ted Nugent, Styx and Golden Earring among others. An interesting aspect of this band is that singer Rick Sanford occasionly uses the flute to add a different feel to the music. The music is slightly progressive hard rock. Michael Prince alternates between keyboard gymnastics and second guitar. Lead guitarist Roger Romeo comes to the fore now and again with splendid results. Tracks like riff rocker "Stage Fright", "Satin Peacock" and flute filled "Rat Race" are classics. The music is aggressive in the British style yet contains melodic hooks. It appears that bad luck and mismanagement are all the kept this seventies band from hitting the big time. Tracks like "It's Not The Music" and "Can't Find Love" along with the previously mentioned songs have enough hooks to remain in the memory long after the disk is finished. Highly recommended for fans of energetic seventies rock.

5 out of 5 stars GUITAR BONANZA!.......2002-11-08

This is the best album I have and I still crave new music. I range from this to UFO to Dwight Yoakem to Shaver and am still looking. As a musician, listen to the pacing, dynamics, and tightness of this album. Very advanced! As a guitar player,
check out the phrasing! UNBELIEVABLE! There are faster, cooler, and hotter out there but this guitar player has IT at this moment in time. Check it out!

5 out of 5 stars DEADLY DANCER.......2002-01-25

Legs Diamond's premeire release. Sounds stupid, but it's a must have! There is not a bad song on this disc. Even the bonus track "Come With Me" is good. My personal favorites are "Stage Fright", "Can't Find Love" and "It's Not the Music". Unfortunately it is the music; this is OUTSTANDING from the first to the last note on the disc.

Legs Diamond packs a punch that few groups ever have. It is hard to believe they never made it, but I guess they prove what lack of promotion does, just like the Babys did. Legs Diamond's music doesn't just sit there; it's lively music that always helps pick me up. Simply put, it's exciting and well formulated. Catchy chords and lyrics inside a brilliant package. If you know me you own it, or, you want it! Don't be left out! Discover what it is about Legs Diamond that have had people praying for CD releases for a long time. Get out of the "Rat Race" and throw this puppy in your player and make it happy!
