Essential Thrash.......2001-02-05
Are you sick of "nu-metal" bands like Korn, Linkin Park, Slipnot, and Disturbed? Do you long for the crunching rhythms, chaotic speed, excellent musicianship, and soaring vocals of classic 80's thrash? If you answered yes to the two above questions, then Imagika's And So It Burns will provide you with a definite breath of fresh air. Whether it's the blazing speed of "Chaos To Murder", "Hell" and "Annihilate", the vicious rhythms of "Fallen One", "My Dominion", and "Atrocity", or the eerie melodies of "Darkness Has Come", and "Fade Away", this disc will thoroughly appease your thrash desires. Furthermore, the musicianship and production (thanks to Uwe Lulis) are top notch! If you consider yourself a thrash fan, then buy this disc immediately.
Blistering. Aggressive. Heavy. Power. Imagika........2001-01-31
It's not very often these days to come upon a metal band that is just that,a metal band. When you pick up any Imagika release you'll notice right from the start there are no DJ's no turntables, no beat samples,no rhymes, no dreadlocks, adidas sweatpants, wallet chains or vans shoes. Imagika have done something in the bay area that's become the exception to the "rule", which is, they stayed true to the roots of Heavy Metal. Imagika are living proof that metal did not nor ever will die. In Addition, they've kept the fading spirit of the beloved San Francisco bay area thrash sound and attitude alive. From the first second of the intro to the final seconds of the last song Imagika are power, thrash, aggression, melody and thrash. Did I mention thrash? Forget about 11, this record is on 20.Imagika have not slowed down since their debut release. Each of the 9 songs is filled with heavy guitars, killer double bass and screaming insane vocals. Lyrically, the album is a crushing portrait into darkness and there's no light at the end of the tunnel. "And So It Burns" also offers excellent production from Uwe Lulis (of Grave Digger noterity) which only serves to intensify the audible brutality of this compact disc. There's no point in comparing this band to any of their influences or bands in any genres. This band stands on their own as one of the best heavy bands of today. A band that's been overlooked for a long time. Buy this disc.
Metal Rules again with ....And so It Burns.......2001-01-02
I have been a fan of this band for some years now.I remember seeing them play a the Road House in Sunnyvale before their first cd came out. I have not heard fromn them in years until I picked up this CD. These guys have come a long way. If you like heavy guitars and awsome melodys this is the it. This disc kept me pumped up all way through. The production on the everything is clear. You can hear every guitar riff and kickdrum.. This metal reminds me of early Priest and Maiden with a touch of Death Angel...this disc you is one you want in you collection.
The resurrection of American thrash.......2000-10-21
This band will bring memories from a time when San Francisco Bay thrash was it. This is a thrash album with some classical and power metal overtones, aggressively played, straight-ahead metal following no trends and jumping no bandwagons. I felt some similarities with Grave Digger's sound and not-surprisingly I found out Grave Digger's Uwe Luis assisted in the production and engineering. What you get on this album is razor sharp guitars, waling solos, thundering drums and very powerful screaming vocals. No trends, no gimmicks, just insane playing. Why did I give this album five stars? First, listening to a band that will stick to the roots of metal and doesn't try to be all commercial is actually a breath of fresh air these days. And second because you just can't do it any better, there are no fillers in this album. The album goes from the insanely brutal like the track "The Fallen One" to the more melodic like "Darkness has Come". The album ends with my favorite track, an 8++ minute masterpiece titled "Fade Away". If you miss the thrash metal scene from the mid to late 80's, and if there's a Exodus, Iced Earth, Death Angel, etc CD in your stereo right now ...And So It Burns is the answer to all your prayers.
