Customer Reviews:
Not really my kinda music.......2006-01-14
So why did I buy it then? Simply because during watching the absolutely brilliant film, one song stuck out. The fabulous version of Patsy Cline's "Crazy", by the Kidney Thieves, which was already a cover. This is a classic song, and the Kidney Thieves manage to put a new spin on it, with a husky voiced female, and a slow beginning, then it becomes really rocky towards the middle. This has always been a favourite song of mine, but now it's even better, so I've been playing it almost constantly. It really matches my mood at the moment too, and the lyrics are so appropriate for me right now. Just watch out when you play it, don't turn it up too loud to hear the beginning, cos believe me you'll be racing to turn it down when it hits the rocky middle.
The rest of the music, is so not my kinda thing. For heavens sake, Motorhead are the music my dad actually likes. This soundtrack really isn't for a pop music fan (moi), but then it was never meant to be!
"we belong dead".......2005-04-01
i'd give this a 4 and a half coz this soundtrack is pretty except for 3 tracks that aren't just kinda make you question why they're on here(screamin' cheetan wheelies, judas priest and bruce dickinson). it's prolly a known fact that you can now buy every single track on this soundtrack on something that artist released themselves but what is worth noting is some of more interesting tracks.
this is only soundtrack where you can get the first version of "son of x51" by powerman 5000. now i say first version coz this came out before "tonight the stars revolt". this version is pretty much the same but does not contain vocal bit at the beginning of their album version. also, this is where you can also get the first version of "crazy" (a cover of a song that patsy cline did but which is in itself a cover of a song that willie nelson wrote & performed first) by the kidneythieves. this version is a bit different from the one that appeared on "zerospace" but is essentially the same. also, you can only get that grame revell song here too.
also...contary to what the back of the case says...the songs "human disease" and "blisters" do appear in the movie. "blisters" can be heard during the part where they're getting food...it's low but its in the background, also "human disease" is playing during the credits. the songs that don't appear are "love you to death" and "love for sale".
I own this, buuuuut.............2005-01-07
it's not one of my favorites. This is only okay to listen to once in a long while:
1. Alright.
2. Possibly the best song.
3. I heard better.
4. Okay.
5. Not Judas Priest's best.
6. Boooorrriinnnggg.
7. Slayer sucks after 1988.
8. The start is cool but the rest sucks.
9. Powerman 5000 exaggerates.
10. It's kind of lame.
11. "So Real" is a whole lot better than this.
12. I only listened to it once to this day.
13. Damn Patsy Cline Wannabes!
14. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
It's a lot worse than expected it to be. It could only be a millimeter more of a crappy song and I would give it 2 well deserved stars. But I can only give it 3 stars because of a couple of good songs on this entire cd.
"Music has really gone to hell since I've been dead.".......2004-11-21
Now this is a soundtrack! Regardless if you liked the movie itself or not, there is much enjoyment to had here. I have owned the movie for quite some time, and I was always curious about the soundtrack, since the music in the movie was great, but I never bought it. Then it was almost impossible to find. So as soon as I discovered it (after a couple of years), I instantly purchased it, and it made me depressed. Why? 'Cause it rocks! I wish I would've gotten it sooner! This is a great compilation of rock songs that will remind fans of scenes in the movie, and will bless the ears of newcomers. Fans of rock in general, take note! A great mixture of old-school and current artists, with highlights including Type-O-Negative's "Love You to Death", kidneythieves' "Crazy", and "Trumpets of Jericho" by Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden!).
A Soundtrack That Fits The Movie Perfectly........2004-11-19
When "Bride Of Chucky" came out, I was instantly hooked. Loving the music presented in the movie and most of the bands on here at the time, I was naturally compelled to purchase this soundtrack. I have owned this since 1998, and it still remains a fixture in my stereo. It's one of the few soundtracks I own that brings back vivid memories of the film. It is very obvious the producers intentionally chose pieces that, not only were stylish, but fit the mood and overall story of the movie. Monster Magnet's "See You In Hell" and Type O Negative's "Love You To Death" are two shining examples. The lyrics to the songs sound like they were written for Chucky and Tiffany, even though they were written way before the movie came out. White Zombie's classic track "Thunderkiss '65" is a great touch, even if the omission of Rob's "Living Dead Girl" (which played over the opening credits) is a bit depressing. Coal Chamber's "Blisters" is probably their best song ever. I'm not really into them as much as I was when this was released, but I still love hearing this song. It moves very slow, but once it kicks into gear, the payoff is worth it. Too bad they didn't make more songs like this. This soundtrack also introduced me to two bands I hadn't heard of at the time. Powerman 5000 and Static-X. Powerman 5000's "Son Of X-51" is a different version than the one heard on their 1999 "Tonight The Stars Revolt!" and is worth checking out if you're a fan, while Static-X's infamous track "Bled For Days" serves as that nostalgic first release from the band (also, one of the best songs of their career). The soundtrack is also beefed up with some metal on the more traditional side; Slayer's "Human Disease" is absolutely brutal, while Bruce Dickinson (of Iron Maiden), Judas Priest, and Motorhead give the soundtrack some old school credibility. Kidneythieves' cover of "Crazy" is definitely an interesting addition, and plays into the movie very well (much like Stabbing Westward's track also). Finally, composer Graeme Revell's piece, titled "We Belong Dead" pieces together a bit of score and soundbites from the movie. Too bad though that the score from the movie wasn't release, I love Revell's work. Overall, it's a superb soundtrack. Fans of the movie and heavy music alike won't want to skip this one. It definitely has staying power. I've had it these six years and even though I own most of the material by now on other discs, it all sounds so great woven together on this one collection. Or maybe being a rabid Chucky fan makes me biased, who knows.
