Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars What Happened?.......2006-10-03

Lita Ford knew what she was doing in the 80s. She got away from the punk feel of the runaways and entered into her true love of metal/arena rock. After waiting a few years after dangerous curves, I was expecting something along those lines. I did not see this coming. Black has a huge influence on this album. I hate the whole grunge scene and to hear it from Lita is very upsetting. She has the skills as a musician to put out better material than this. Hopefully that day is soon. If you are a die hard fan of her like I am, you won't be too upset with this cd. The only tracks that are worth listening to are smokin toads and white lightning.

5 out of 5 stars Black is wicked!!.......2004-02-19

With heavier cuts and Blues Lita adds new licks to the mix and makes for a f***ing versatile CD that strikes like white hot lightning! No folks this aint just a retread of the 80's sound but this sexy, soulful and sonic disc is still red hot rock and roll from the Black Widow and Queen of Noise herself and in cotrast it makes the pop tarts we are stuck with today look more pale than usual 'cause LITA F***ING ROCKS!!

3 out of 5 stars I Love Lita, BUT............2003-03-17

The grunge influence is more than I can bear. Also, the guitar approach is much more Fender than BC Rich...if you know what I mean. For perspective, I've been a fan since 1983 and have grown to love both the "club" rock of her first two CD's to the "arena" rock of her last three (ending with Dangerous Curves). Honestly, a re-creation of the over the top guitars and anthemic vocal approach so prevalent in the late 80's / early 90's would have been much more refreshing than this effort. Other reviewers have done a great job reviewing the individual songs...this review should act merely as an overview. Bottom line - "Black" is a perfect title for this disappointing CD.

4 out of 5 stars Arresting heavy metal melodrama!.......2003-01-19

"Loverman" and "Joe" are so impassioned, and "Where Will I Find My Heart Tonight" is so catchy, I would've thought this CD had 'big success' all over it. Alas, it's been hard to find these past few years, and most Lita Ford fans don't even know about it. She's in great spirits throughout, and although I like the softer stuff better than "Hammerhead", I find the entire CD a great rock-and-roll journey. Lita hasn't aged or dated a bit, she's as clever and cunning and luscious as she was in 1987. A-

5 out of 5 stars HOT TRACKS !!!.......2002-08-05

ON HER 1995 ALBUM LITA INDRODUCES A LIITLE GRUNGE TO HER MATERIAL "BLACK" AND "FALL". FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE CD SHE CONTINUES TO DELIVER WHAT SHE DOES BEST : ELERTRIFYING GUITAR PLAYING AND DRAMATIC BALLADS. A SOLID EFFORT A+. ANYONE WHO IS INTO ROCK SHOULD CHECK THIS ONE OUT.
