Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars It's Just Jon.......2001-08-31

The songs on this CD are so different from the usual Bon Jovi music (which I love!) but it allowed Jon to go in different directions with his music. The songs are written with a great deal of observation of people and situations. The lyrics are poetic and personal. My current favorites are "Every Word..." and "Staring at Your Window" but all of the songs have something that grabs you and doesn't let go. And the heartache in "August 7, 4:15" is something that nobody should have to feel.

5 out of 5 stars different, but truly jon bon jovi.......2000-09-23

As a guy who enjoys good lyrics that have a meaning or a story behind their words, how can I not listen to Jon Bon Jovi? I didn't know that this album is a solo project of Jon, but it definitely sounds a bit different than the songs he wrote with Sambora and those he played with his usual band. It appers to me that although the songs songs sound somehow similar they are quite different and I guess Jon experimented a lot with his voice and new sounds on this album. For me as a person who too is a littlebit into songwriting Jon is a source of inspiration. And some of the songs on this album are pretty good pieces of work, concerning lyrics (that are not far from poetry), vocals and music. Though there are no true ballades on this album as one might expect when he hears the name bon jovi there are some songs that are really touching (my personal oppinion) e.g. Staring at your window with a suitcase in my hand, Every word was a piece of my heart, It's just me and Destination anywhere. A verry good song that made it into my 'alltime-favourite-list! is Midnight in Chelsea. It's a good CD for romantic minded people (like me). It's not quite the stuff that one who likes It's my life, Blaze of glory, or Wanted dead or alive. And it's also somehow different from classics like In these Arms or Always. But I aprecciate almost evey single note and vocal on this record!

I have listened to each one of his tracks ever made and there is no other artist who matches up to his standards. The richness in meaning and usage of peotry in his songs are very impressive. He's keeping rock alive!
