Customer Reviews:
Happy sounds from the ... uh, furnace.......2003-05-01
Here we go, album number 4 for German goth metal group Crematory. Seemingly guitar and keyboard driven, both clean and rough vocals are exchanged. The clean vocals are typically used during choruses along with soaring keyboards to emphasize dynamics. The band creates a goth-metal-pop sound that is their own. Closest comparison I know of being Pyogenesis' Sweet X-Rated Nothings. Bodies turning to ash? I don't think so. Not dark and foreboding, but more upbeat and dare I say it happy? Lyrics and dancing keyboards increase the cheese factor to the grand scale. For the occasional listen and not to be taken seriously.
Death-Pop! Yes, I'm serious!.......2001-08-16
Crematory has taken the traditional death metal growl and combined it with the airy keyboard melodies in pop music. At times this comes off as sounding somewhat forced, but in many instances creates an enjoyable listening experience. Despite the negatives, Cremtory does manage to produce some memorable songs. Much of this album is very catchy music that is easy to sing (or growl) along with. Vocally this is a combination of the growling and cleanly sung vocals, which are often combined in the choruses for an effective mix of brutality and despair. Worth checking out.
CREMATORY RULEZ!.......1999-09-10
Crematory is my favourite band. They`re from Germany and this shows all others that also Germans can make cool music! Awake is one of their best albums. Act Seven is better, but only a slice. The best is the mixture between synthesizer and guitars, growl and clear voice.
Excellent heavy metal CD (gothic metal)!.......1999-01-13
Heavy stuff with catchy rhythms and tasteful use of synthesizers. It's different than the metal material I usually listen to and it's a real treat.
Has mixture of good death metal growls and normal singing. The synthesizers are used extensively in every song but the music doesn't sound like Depeche Mode or Erasure -- it's still heavy metal but with a twist.
For reference a few groups I like are: Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower, Carcass, Megadeth, Metallica, Grave, Slayer, Malevolent Creation, Dismember, and Hypocrisy.
