4 out of 5 stars Too bad they collapsed.......2005-11-26

First of all, it is really sad that this band broke up and even though there are rumors that they got back together, I am not getting my hopes up. This EP is great solely because it's one of the few rap-rock albums that actually has a personality of it's own. While the singers do rap, the rest of the band sounds like an industrial blend that makes you want to both jump and stomp at the same time. The lyrics were very politically minded which I didn't care for as much but it seemed to fit well and the samples put in by Embryo and Chris actually fit with the song and it's meaning. The music as a whole flows very well and they actually knew what they were doing when they decided to blend the genres of industrial and rap. They didn't just stick a rapper in front of a rock band. Brian Tutunick (who most people know as Olivia Newton Bundy) went on to form Nation of Fear that has the industrial roots that you can really feel in this band and released the album Everything Beautiful Rusts. Meanwhile, the other members formed L.U.N.G.S. a more rap-based rock band that released an album Better Class of Losers. Former guitarist Eddie Rendini (never made it on either album) went on to play in Darwin's Waiting Room and for a while was a member of Cold. Chris Nicholas (keyboards/samples) went on to create the documentary Marilyn Manson-Demystifying the Devil as well as directing music videos for bands like the Mary Tyler Whores featuring Collapsing Lungs/L.U.N.G.S. percussionist/vocalist Crime Cassara. If you're a fan of anything nu-metal you have to hear this album and pray to the metal gods they get back together.

2 out of 5 stars Collapsing Lungs - 'Colorblind' (Atlantic).......2005-08-18

Okay,as it turns out, this five-song CD isn't as bad as I expected.I mean I come across this EP,extended single,WHATEVER it actually is and took the time to listen to it.Collapsing Lungs seem to combine some rap with industrial-techno and metal.'Colorblind' is,as it turns out quite tolerable.Track listing is "Crackerjack"(4:22),"Let's Play A Game"(2:57),"Bang!"(4:09),the anti-racism "Too Blind To See"(5:01)and "Down For The Count"(2:47).This EP appears to be the band's sole release.Oh,well.
