Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars charlie's view.......2000-01-24

i agree with the other reviews. i also think that he is an incredible guitarist. although this record has phenomenol guitar playing, it does lack something. but i will say this. the follow up Mind Over Matter is not only much better, but in my opinion right up there with Yngwie's first solo CD as one of the best guitar albums of all time. If you want to hear Bellas at his best(so far) you should really pick up Mind Over Matter or his CD with John West(Mind Journey)...

4 out of 5 stars You're not supposed to be this good at something..........1999-09-25

This is my first Bellas CD. Oh my GOD, this guy is unbelievable! What an extraordinary, technically wicked, musically proficient and consummate master of the guitar! Now that I've overloaded this review with praises for Bellas, I have only one thing to say against him. He is every bit as gifted as Yngwie. BUT I must say I don't care much for his songwriting. Even Yngwie, whose solos all sound the same, is more creative in my opinion. I just don't think Bellas is very interesting as far as most of his ideas go. The songs are completely impossible for me to play on my guitar, but they don't strike me as all that imaginative and exciting. I hate seeing guitarists (see also Stephen Ross) who are so gloriously skilled that their technique far surpasses their musical invention. Basically I put this CD on just to listen to the beserk flurries of notes otherwise known as "rhythms" and "solos," but I give it the four stars because this guy is simply way too damn good.

4 out of 5 stars Very good musicianship, breath-taking technique........1999-03-24

For someone not used to this level of playing-just like most of what you hear on the radio-it might be a little overwhelming. However, after listening to the whole machine-gun-type-of-licks arsenal, will instantly realize that, by far, that's not the whole story.
