Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Not too shabby.......2006-01-04

Most people think "Joe Who?" But although not widely known, this is a seriously talented guitarist. The track "jetaime" stands out as the jem of the album and one of my favorites (up there with "Air" by Becker or "Icarus" by Malmsteen). A fairly solid album but production hinders its potential in my opinion.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome playing.......2003-10-25

I still listen to this one a lot, even if I can't play a quarter of the licks at speed ;-) "Ultraviolence" was a real jaw dropper on this album, I listened to it over and over and over.... If you like Paganini influenced shred guitar, you'll like this recording.

4 out of 5 stars More like 4.5 stars.......2003-08-01

This is the album that launched Joe Stump's solo career after his stint with Trash Broadway. It was originally recorded on 16-track, 1/2" tape machine and the production wasn't the clearest. That said, there was absolutely no denying Joe's incredible talent. If you like neo-classical or shred, this is a fantastic album to own. Joe stays solidly in what most would call the shred camp, but he brings a lot of different influences to the game. In addition to the expected "classical composer" influences, you'll hear a lot of Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, Ritchie Blackmore and Gary Moore influences. That said, I think it's very easy to hear Joe's own style and personality coming through. If you dig high-tech guitar with cool songs, this is a great disc to own.

One last note - Leviathan Records recently re-issued and re-mastered this disc. Having owned the original CD and the re-mastered one, I can say that you definitely want the new edition. The overall presence and separation of the instruments is so much better.

4 out of 5 stars Fretboard Mastery, a Guitar Legend is Born.......1999-10-22

The production leaves a little to be desired, but there's no diputing Joe's absolutely amazing neo-classical guitar destruction. The man is awe-inspiring, he's like Malmsteen on speed. The drums are also a pleasent surprise with lots of double bass drum beats to go with the heavy guitar.
