3 out of 5 stars Not Finger Eleven.......2005-12-23

i bought this album after purchasing finger eleven's three albums (which rock). some of the songs on this album rock: as far as i can spit, brat, spiderprints, nibber, and dropping. then, the rest of the songs are terrible. i would recommend this album for any finger eleven fan but that is it.

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly amazing.......2005-08-04

It's hard to tell by the album cover, title or even the band's name but this is a stunning album, worth anyones money. Under the new name 'Finger Eleven' they have since produced three more great albums, but even the more upbeat songs somehow fail to acheive this level of enjoyability.

I couldn't possibly pick a best track, it's an incredibly solid album without a single track that's likely to get skipped. Without a definite style, I really could recommend this to anyone, even if you're not overkeen on the hard rocking 'Greyest of Blue Skys' or more recent balladesque tracks from the self-titled 'Finger Eleven' album. If Finger Eleven go on to bigger things then this could become an extremely rare treasure, buy now and you won't be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars A funky Finger 11.......2005-03-16

Obviously, I got the CD because I love Finger 11 and wanted to hear their previous incarnation. The first thing that struck me is just how funky Letters from Chutney is. Featuring many bottom-heavy riffs so much a part of Finger 11's later sound, there is a surprising number of wah-pedals and syncopated rhythms. The formula works really well, making for songs that are just as danceable as they are moshable. The performance is solid and stands as a testament to just how talented a band they are.

Think of it as party Finger 11.

5 out of 5 stars Doesn't really sound like Finger Eleven... But is that bad?.......2003-10-17

I've been a fan of the Rainbow Butt Monkeys since i was like 9 years old (1996). This band is now called Finger Eleven, but this album is way better than anything Finger Eleven has ever done and probably ever will do (which is a shame)

If you like the Finger Eleven sound you'd probably love the songs "As Far As I Can Spit", "Danananana", "Spiderprints" and "Droppings". But the album isn't just like that, there the funk element in there with songs "Circles", "Brat", and "Cookin' In The Kitchen". there's not a bad song.

They went downhill after this but atleast they changed there name. so forever in history you could say "The Rainbow Butt Monkeys released only great music"

5 out of 5 stars Everyone needs this cd.......2001-07-04

This cd is just amazing. Anyone who doesn't buy it is a fool. If you like great music that is REAL then this cd is definately for you. If you like manufactured junk then don't buy this cd. Finger Eleven has been a fav of mine for a long time, but I just recently purchased this cd under their old title "Rainbow Butt Monkeys"...I enjoy it very much, and I'm sure anyone else would love it too! *as long as you like rock that is* :p
