5 out of 5 stars Insanity!.......2001-10-30

Oh man this drummer is the best. I can't believe what he does. You have to check this guy out, i mean now. The rest of the band is hardcore death, pretty much in the suffocation/deicide vein. Absolutely great death metal. I was shocked when I heard this drummer on this album. All death metal fans need to hear this drummer, forget all other drummers no one is as good as this guy, no one. Masterly.

4 out of 5 stars Fans of Death Metal Drumming Rejoice.......2001-09-30

This offering from Burning Inside has an ace up its sleeve: an absolute world class drummer. Drummer Richard Christy has laid down drum tracks here as if to defy someone to play anything remotely as complex. Bear in mind, the drums are extremely intricate, often overpowering, always very audible, cleanly produced and never short of amazing. However, this recipe could easily be one man's paradise and another's irritation. I can easily see many getting fed up with Christy's free license to create almost constant chaos, albeit highly controlled. In other words, he often drowns out the guitars and bass with his constant, furious waves of percussion. For me, this is all gain.

As for the rest of the band, its pretty good. Vocals sound somewhat like Malevolent Creation's Eternal in some places, others almost Deicide like. Guitar riffs are, overall, uneven. Some songs are absolutely genius (track 6), others are strange and somewhat disembodied and unmemorable. At times their unique timing in unusual meters proves to be exhilirating and unpredictable, at other times it just seems tedious. Bass lines are hardly worth mentioning.

Overall, if you love speed/thrash/death metal drumming, you will absolutely LOVE this release. If you hate over the top drumming, stay far away from this one. My best estimate is that most death metal fans will want this album in their collection.

5 out of 5 stars It all started from a t-shirt........2001-03-23

I first noticed their name on countless musician's t-shirts bearing the bands logo, then one reviewer said that they're one of the best things to come out of Florida. From there on I took noticed. Having a fine blend of brutal, death and black metal they stand on their own with the likes of ATHEIST and CYNIC.
