This Album Rocks!.......2007-02-05
Company of Wolves rocks. The vocal styles are similar to Cheap Trick. They are more of a rock and soul style than heavy metal. Fun music to jam to. Lead guitarist - Steve Conte - is now playing with The New York Dolls. The Wolves put out a couple of other CD's - Shakers & Tambourines released in 1997 which was mostly demos made before they got their record deal in 1988 and released later as is. And Steryl Spycase released in 2001 of all new material. Check out www.kyf.com. Website of lead singer Kyf Brewer for more info on Company of Wolves.
An interesting merging of genres.......2006-03-16
Company of Wolves turned up, were put forth as hard rockers and their first video 'Call of the Wild' deservedly got some screen time.
This is southern tinged boogie rock. Straight up. No hysterical vocals and the whole thing is quite well put together and reasonably good production. No idea what happened to these guys, but they might of morphed into something really worthy of more respect.
As it is, on the strength of this album I'd have to say that this album is more a harbinger of more good times ahead than a finished state of mind. If your into boogie rock or the Black Crows then buy this album, otherwise perhaps not.
I'm Getting This One Again.......2004-07-29
This is one of the most underrated albums to come out of the 90's. I loved this album since hearing "Call Of The Wild" for the first time. It's rock and roll that I remember growing up with like the Eagles, Foghat, and Poco on some of thier heavier ones. In my own personal top 30 of Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal favorites from 1990 "Girl" ended up being the number 2 song. Only "In My World" from Anthrax beat it; I'm biased as they're a stone's throw from Philly, and I pay homage to locals as much as possible, but there's some fabulous stuff here like "Jilted", of course the 2 I mentioned, and " I Don't Want To Be Loved". I know that there was some weak stuff here, but every album has that. Unfortunately I haven't heard anything about them since doing thier 4th video "Ship". It's like they disappeared without a trace. I'm getting this someday on cd as I long to hear some good music again.
awesome.......2003-12-03
Okay, so maybe I'm showing a little favoritism because Kyf Brewer was a local guy from The Ravyns. But I'm tellin' you if you like real rock music, do yourself a huge favor and buy this CD. I only wish they had made more music together. Listen to track 5, Romance on the Rocks. I think it's the best song on the CD. I need more Company of Wolves!!!
Do yourself a favor.......2003-04-15
If you like great rock and roll, without all the metal upper frequency vocals, then this is the album for you. Kyf Brewer is very cool on the vocals, and the Conte brothers really can back him up. Guitar playing on this album is superb. Best track, Jilted, just listen to the solo, so cool. This has been a CD changer favorite since 1990 in my vehicle.
