I simply cannot believe this band disappeared!.......2003-07-20
Let me first say that "Thrash Epic" is the very definition of thrash, (and epic,) and my current standard for comparison. This no vocals track is by far my favorite. Take the thrash track "Metal Militia" from Metallica's first album in '80, add some talent and a much more skilled set of very seasoned musicians, and multiply that times ten. This track alone makes the CD priceless... not to mention the other excellent metal cuts on the album, and their vocals do not disappoint. From
"Slowly Rolling" starts the CD and sets the mood, "Reach Out" brings the initial anger/energy as the music starts to thrash, "Nineteen" slows you a bit with an incredible metal grind, unusual time signature changes, and riffs makes you cry for more. In between you have a few more clam tracks "Father" and "Earth" with excellent vocals, the latter even a great integration with a piano throughout the song (even the guitar solo) and shares a message much like the title track. Towards the end of the album after the best thrash track of all time, "We Are One" brings back the slower metal grind, and "Myre" ends the album picking right up where "Thrash Epic" left off.
This album as a whole is far superior to today's 'metal' standards, and would be a great asset to any true metal fan's collection.
Since my initial purchase, I've worn out two CD's to the point they were unplayable, and another was secretly 'borrowed' without asking me, and never returned. Uh huh.
If nothing else, buy it because it's cheap. Buy it to head bang. Buy it if you're an American Man. I did, and I was never sorry. Why they never made another album could stand as the 8th wonder of the world.
