4 out of 5 stars not bad, an improvement on O.F.R........2006-12-02

it needs a few listens for this cd to grab you. one listen of this band ain't enough to appreciate the complexity of the riffs and solos. in my opinion the band have made an improvement with this album. rather than just showing off lengthy fast guitar solos and high screams for the sake of it ( like on O.F.R), jim gillette and michael angelo are more restrained on this cd, but as a result, have come out with better and catchier songs. there are one or two average fillers but theres at least half a dozen good tracks on here.
the opener, i want u- is typical 80's hair metal style, with good riffs and solos. a couple of acoustic fillers-crazy love and don't go are examples of the bands progression in songwriting. the highlight track for me is probably johnny died on christmas, that is a more slow paced number with an awesome guitar solo in the middle. the down point of the album is the title track, that just sounds a right mess, but all in all there ain't too many mishaps.

1 out of 5 stars Not Nitro, but how bout' Sucko!.......2005-02-15

This album sucks so bad it's not even funny. I spent 5 bucks too much on this trash.
I Want You had a decent guitar riff, but Jim's vocals sound so horrible(it sounds like someone is strangling my grandmother while sneazing) it's really that bad.
Cat Scratch Fever dosen't help thing either,(A bullet through the head is more painless than listening to this garbage)Ted Nugent should sue them for using his song.
Crazy Love is a slow song and believe me it dosen't help very much it just shows how much no talent this band had.
Too put it short and bitter do not buy this cd.
Don't Go is the only song on here that sounds somewhat alright, but that's it. One song out of 11 that is not a good album.
If you see it for 1 cent you could pick it up just to hear what bad music is, but don't pay over one cent on this trash.
This is better than rap music though that's the only merit I can give this.
This band made a mockery of 80's metal, these dummies should have their hair cut off. That's the only rwason they made an album. If you want a good hair band try King Kobra, early Motley Crue, Dokken or Vixen, but not these losers.

1 out of 5 stars Buy O.F.R. Instead.......2004-07-17

This album is trash. For a band who on their first album proclaimed to be extreme and wild they sure toned down on this outting. The big hair is gone and the sound is way overproduced. Extremely cheezy throughout. Their first album is off the chain, pick that up instead. The only thing worthy on this album is the last track which is just Micahel Angelo shredding up a storm.

4 out of 5 stars Not your average glam rock band.......2003-08-26

Things just weren't the same in this genre after the 80s came to an end. Nitro were one of the last to keep fighting, and fight they did. Although their first album OFR was the band's best, there's some good stuff to be found on HWDWS, you just have to give it a few listens.

My first impression was they toned down their agressive sound (which I didn't like) but the songs are just as catchy. Michael Angelo's over the top guitar playing is still evident, though the solos are shortened and not so crazy (which may be good or bad depending on your taste) like on OFR but there is a cool solo track at the end that displays his neoclassical chops and speed for anyone who doubts his talent.

If you don't know much about Nitro's history you should at least know that when they recorded their first album people advised them to not play so fast and extreme. The band didn't want to mellow out and went ahead with their original all out concept, probably sacrificing chances of being a chart topping ballad producer (which was the trend). This album is more like that mellowed out version of Nitro, with a softer more accessible vibe. Don't let that fool you though, it's still Nitro and it still rocks.
