Industrial Legends.......2006-07-15
What a sound 16 volt deliver. I didn't know much about 16 volt to begin with and really wasn't familiar with them and only had discovered them when i heard their tracks used on the gothic sony game primal(awesome game by the way). The atmosphere and ambience delvered throughout the cd gave me goosebumps when i first listened to the cd. Such a versatile use of sounds especially on one of their tracks 'moutheater'. It starts off very mellow and soft but then it builds up and we hear the signature 16 volt sound.
The album may consist heavily of a dark and deep sound filled with plenty of guitar riffs and drums but 16 volt introduce you to their more mellow tracks 'low' and 'at the end'. These tracks may bore some fans as the energy of tracks such as 'don't pray' and 'everyday everything' get them going, but showing versatility in having so many different sounds on the album truely define 16 volt as one of the best industrial rock bands of our time.
With numerous cd releases before Super cool nothing v 2.0 it certainly proves that 16 volt must have done something right to stay in the race for as long as the have. Who knows what the boys have got instore for us. Primal 2 maybe?
16 Volt...a great industrial band!.......2005-02-24
SuperCoolNothing ver. 2.0 is a great double cd re-release by the industrial band 16 Volt. Like many other industrial greats, they are not all that well known, but have had more exposure by Sony (on the Primal game release, so I've heard). I have listened to this band for quite some time now, and this cd just shows how much the band has grown and evolved over the years. It has a great production and sound. I highly recommend that you purchase this release, esp. if you like the music of NIN or Filter, just as examples. 16 Volt is a highly powerful and intelligent band and you will not be disappointed with this release!
Industrial at its best!.......2004-04-23
I first got interested in 16 Volt through Primal. As it wasn't even mine, the only song I heard was "And I Go", but I liked the dark lyrics and headbanging style so I decided to take a chance and buy the CD.
It was well worth the risk. On this album there are few fillers and many great songs, especially "And I Go" and "I Fail Truth". The high points are the dark lyrics and heavy industrial choruses; the low points are the three fillers, which are simular and repetitive.
This album was what first got me in to Industrial Rock. I recommend to anyone into Goth Rock, Emo Rock, Industrial Rock . . . in fact, just about anyone into rock.
Super Cool Doesn't Even Touch This CD.......2004-04-02
16 Volt is one of the most hard working industrial bands of today. Super Cool Nothing is just one of the more recent releases in a long line of hard hitting CDs. Plagued by record woes 16 Volt got little to no recognition for this release. Highlights include tracks such as Happy Pill and Machine Kit but every track is listenable, to say the least. People interested in Super Cool Nothing should look into 16 Volt's other CDs, particularly Skin and Wisdom. This is a must have for any industrial fan.
A matured 16 Volt..........2003-12-05
WOW, is one word to describe this cd. This is the best 16 Volt cd I've heard since "Wisdom", Eric Powell and his bands music has defintely improved and matured over the years. Heres the track review:
1. I Fail Truth 5/5 - Fast and well crafted with the electronics, gets you ready for more.
2. Everyday Everything 4/5 - It gets you thinkin its a mellow song until the chorus, a heavy headbanging song with a bit generic lyrics.
3. Don't Pray 5/5 - Awesome song that sends out a very negative message, 2nd best song!
4. Keep Sleeping 5/5 - A great "mellow heavy" song with uplifting lyrics, 3rd best song!
5. Moutheater 4/5 - Another great song
6. Happy Pill 5/5 - OMG! Sweet lyrics, sweet guitar riffs, a really great song that speaks to you! best song on the cd.
7. Enemy 3.5/5 - A 'filler" song
8. Machine Kit 4.5/5 - A lot of electronic work in this one. Very nice...
9. Low 3/5 - Worst song on the cd, I always skip it.
10. And I Go 4/5 - A great song with dark lyrics.
11. Dead Weight 4/5 - Love the vocals on this one, sets you up for the end.
12. At the End 4/5 - A nice finish to a great cd, the intro is really cool.
13. Plastic Blue (demo) 4/5 - A somewhat mellow song with weird but cool lyrics.
14. Suffering You (demo) 10/5 - OMG!!!! This is the best song I've ever heard from 16 Volt, I would love to hear more of this kind of stuff from these guys. Everythings great and addictive!
If your even remotely interested in Industrial music or maybe even Dark Metal or stuff like Static X, get this cd!
