4 out of 5 stars Steve Whiteman...the star of KIX.......2003-10-16

This should show that Steve Whiteman was the real star behind KIX...

KIX has become one of my absolute favourite bands of all time, but I didnt actually get into them until long after they had broken up (circa 2000), and so of course I had known they weren't together anymore. So eventually I would buy all their albums and then after that I was like "yeah, it's too bad they are gone" but I always had the albums for my KIX fix..and then I learned that Steve was in his own band..I managed to find and download some clips of their songs..and Funny Money does have some minor differences sonically than KIX, but this is still A1 work and I consider myself lucky that I was able to get my hands on a copy of this album. It's not easy to get (here in Canada anyway) but that didnt stop me. Wherever you are get this CD, it is your ONLY KIX fix at this point.

My only complaint is a lack of some real killer melodies/hooks/guitar dynamics that made KIX so great in the first place. Most of these songs are catchy but in a more rugged sort of a way. Late 70s rock is the greatest comparison to the music presented here. Want a solid rock album with no surprises? Here. 7/10

5 out of 5 stars Funny Money keeps up the Kix tradition.......2003-06-19

The Funny Money Cd is fantastic from start to finish. The songs
written mainly by Steve Whiteman, continue the Kix tradition of
fun upbeat rock tunes that instantly will become imbedded in your
psyche. When Kix broke up I was depressed just knowing that the
music I had loved for so many years would not be continued, but this
CD has made my world a better place. First time listeners will be amazed at the similarities in the two bands. Buy this Cd first, then go out and see Funny Money live at a club near you. The energy
and fun they pack into each show is not to be missed.

4 out of 5 stars Very fun album from Kix singer.......2002-02-06

This album is heavy with early Aerosmith influence and I think that's exactly why I like it. Whiteman's voice is classic in the Bon Scott vein. He knows his strengths and limitations and concentrates on sing-a-long songs that are light and fun. This is the perfect "rocker party" or "drive to work" in the morning disc. It has a groovy, bluesy, feel to it, and musically sounds more like old Aerosmith (I'm talking "rocks", "toys", and "wings" era)than new Aerosmith does. "Art of persuasion", "Dry eyes cry", "Monkey see..." are my favorite tracks but there isn't a weak spot on the album. This CD is for everybody that misses well written, well played, fun songs that you just don't get to hear anymore. Enough...buy it all ready!!

5 out of 5 stars Pleasant Surprise for Kix fans.......2000-10-17

As a long time Kix fan, (seen them live many times @ Louie's Rock City & @ Leonardtown, Md, even the pre-Kix "Shooze" and "Generators" days...) it was inevitabe to see the magic of Kix fade away. WRONG! Funny Money isn't Kix but Steve Whiteman hit a home run with his new band- Funny Money rocks! I was more than pleasantly surprised how good this CD is!!! Steve's chops have never been better! I'm not familiar with his new band but it works. Funny Money doesn't have the same bounce to their music Kix had but it sure has something else. Plus, there is more dimensions to Funney Money which allow Steve Whiteman to showcase his voice. If you like, Kix buy this CD, you won't be disapointed. However, you've got to turn it up LOUD!
