5 out of 5 stars not a live album.......2006-03-05

i think its important to mention that this is not a live album.here on amazon they have it labeled no more color (live).i almost did'nt order it because of this.anyway i must say this is my favorite coroner album.it has the dark sound of their earlier stuff & is more technical than a lot of what came after it.the best of a great band!!

3 out of 5 stars A tight album.......2005-12-16

Comprised of eight tracks, No More Color--the third full-length album from Coroner--was released in 1989. The material is in a metal musical direction with progressive leanings. I find the musicianship to be accomplished, the songwriting to be solid, and the sound quality to be satisfying. When it comes to the guitar work, Tommy T. Baron does not displease; his playing is proficient, and his solos are precise and smooth. I think that Ron Royce is a distinctive, likeable vocalist. The drumming from Marquis Marky is skillful. The group's musical arrangements and the compositions' shifting tempos are also enjoyable. My favorite cuts are "Read My Scars," "Tunnel of Pain," and "Last Entertainment." The energy-filled "Read My Scars" sports nice guitar riffs from Baron and a hard-driving, pleasing refrain--Marky's bass drum work on the refrain is magnetic. The kinetic "Tunnel of Pain" is invigorating, while the well-crafted, lively "Last Entertainment" is memorable; this track contains an interesting-sounding keyboard line, gratifying guitar work from Baron, and a spoken word recitation from Marky. The CD booklet includes most of the song lyrics, and the back of the CD jewel case displays a photo of the band. The CD is just over 34 minutes. This is a recommendable album.

4 out of 5 stars Important musicians.......2005-01-08

This album is a very underrated and very good effort by a band that in the late 80 s was part of a massive arrival of new bands into the music market in North America and the rest of the world.

I remember another good band that impressed me at that time and was Nuclear assault. Brilliant musicians.

Anyhow, this album is a very good follow up to Punishment for decadence which is a masterpiece. In No more color, the band further explores and deepens their yet excellent heavy sound.

Objectively speaking, the brilliance in this album comes in side two. I say this because I purchased the vynil back in 1989 or 90. Mistress of Deception, Tunnel of pain and Last entertainment are musical heaven. And that s what most of us look for = )

5 out of 5 stars METAL THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.......2004-08-30

I had been familiar with Coroner from their "Punishment For Decandence" release which I thought was pretty good. So I decided to buy their next release. Very few albums by any band in any genre of music has steered me in a musical direction as much as Coroner's "No More Color". "Die By My Hand" is an outrageous way to start an recording. It was the most jarring sound to which I had ever been exposed. The main riff actually made me think my cd player was skipping. From there, the cd never lets up. "No Need To Be Human" just pummels my ears. "Read My Scars" is excellent. "D.O.A." has a middle section that's almost entrancing. At the time, there was alot of critism about R.Royce's vocal. I completely disagree. I thought they fit perfectly. The focus of the material is the sound of the instruments. The vocals were mostly used for atmosphere. Coroner released a few more cd's after "No More Color". Of those, "Grin" may be the only one to surpass this release. But "No More Color" is not to be missed. Pick it up and get ready to be steam rolled.

5 out of 5 stars German/Swiss Thrash Kings.......2004-05-09

No More Color is a awesome release from the 3 member band Coroner. With some awesome guitar work and drumming, No More Color retains the true thrash spirit, all the riffs are downright thrasy, yet un-repetitive unlike some lesser SF thrash bands. "Die By My Hand", "D.O.A." and "Read My Scars" are probably the best songs on here, most of the songs are tru thrashy goodness, only a couple are repetitive. Bottom Line, If you like german (and swiss) speed metal bands like Kreator, Destruction, and Celtic Frost, or you want to escape some of the mediocare SF thrash *cough*Forbidden*cough*, you MUST buy this album.
