Customer Reviews:
A second Equilibrium.......2005-07-22
This Cathedral release, as others have stated is a return to there traditional format of heavy, crushing riffs and drums, performed at a painfully slow tempo.
More for fans of tradional doom, and their 'Forest of equilibrium' release, rather than those who got into the band through lets say The etherreal mirror or carnival bizzare. Nothing new, but something to pass the time while your baked.

one-dimensional doom at its best.......2004-10-26
Endtyme is more of a return to the roots of their career, grinding and slow in the vein of the Soul Sacrifice ep mixed with the best of Forest of Equilibrium..Melody mixed with sludge often comes through in songs like Alchemist of Sorrow
and Whores to Oblivion, which to me were the high points of the album. The low points are the unnecessary Templars Arise,a sequel to "Night of the Seagulls" found on Carnival Bizarre, and Ultra Earth which are best just skipped altogether..Still,what we have here is heaviness and doom at its one-dimensional best,a worthwhile album to have in any collection, and a wonderful starter to the world of sludge and doom metal alike.May Cathedral come to your town soon and blow yer friggin head clean off.
Dense,Heavy,Rough Great Album.......2004-08-21
Endtime is the best Cathedral album, is their most extreme and brutal work , the artcover and concept is dark, the music is so fascinating because of the slow rithm , rough riffs , poetic lyrics , original sound effects, check out the noises in "whores to oblivion" you can imagine giant stones being carried on the ground , intro "cathedral flames" is delicious, "melancholy emperor" have incredible vocals with Lee Dorrian voice with distortion as emerging from beyond , "alchemist of sorrows" includes constant changes of rithm very black sabbath , Cathedral should record another album such as this one , I would love to

Good but really not the best.......2004-06-13
I'll be honest, I bought this album with high anticipation but I listened through and couldn't help thinking to myself that they could have done better. "Melancholy Empire" is a pretty catchy song and so is "Alchemist of Sorrows" For anyone getting into Cathedral, I suggest getting "Carnival Bizzare" It focuses more on the stoom element other than traditional doom Cathedral fans are used to from previous albums. Check it out. You might like it more than me.
