Customer Reviews:
Not bad..........2003-07-11
...being that not ONE original member of Quiet Riot appears on this CD (going back to the Randy Rhoads days). Paul Shortino does a good job on vocals by being himself, not imitating Kevin Dubrow. The songs are catchy (best track is "Stay with Me Tonight", but not as memorable as "Cum on Feel the Noise" or "Party All Night". The band's party-image also departed when Shortino replaced Dubrow, and this perhaps is what made this album a "not so big" hit.
Excellent (though mostly ignored) album from QR.......2003-05-24
I don't give many albums five stars straight up, but for a band like Quiet Riot -- this is deserving every bit of five stars as it is easilly the best album all-around that QR put out.
In for this release (and for the better) is ex-Rough Cutt singer Paul Shortino, along with his former cohort from the Cutt days Sean McNabb replacing Rudy Sarzo who had went off to play with Whitesnake. Shortino's vocals are near flawless here, excellent, punchy, and very melodic unlike the average voice Kevin DuBrow had.
The songs are all so original and excellent written and sound just superb no to mention the ever so important aspect of much better acompanying vocals by Shortino and Carlos Cavaso I would say was at his best here, at least on album. The standout tracks include the opener Stay With Me Tonight, Joker, the awesome instrumental/guitar solo Lunar Obsession, Coppin' A Feel, and Promises. Every track here is tight and very good and probably still hold their own today because this album was the sole release from this line-up (Shortino wouldn'ts tick around much past 1989 when the rest of the band went on a few years hiatus), and was taken off the shelves years ago so it is now out of print and pretty rare.
Again, this is the best album Quiet Riot put out IMO, though many die-hard DuBrow fans would disagree. This album was miles better than the previous two or three that DuBrow and company had put out in the mid 80's, and is also better than some of the recent QR albums with the reunited line-up which are indeed good -- but this just sounds much better.
If you can't find it, do yourself a favor and make your own cd here and burn every track. This is a gem of an album for one of the "pretty good" hair bands of that genre.
Worth getting if you can find it........2003-04-19
I would have to say 1988's Quiet Riot has to be the strongest album the band has ever put out.Stay with me tonight,Don't wanna be your fool, and Empty promises are great songs. Some of the remaining songs are all that great, but they are more interesting than the filler on their other albums.
Cool CD (without Kevin DeBrow).......1998-10-22
This CD is really excellent! You may have to get used to Kevin DeBrow not singing (Paul Shortino is the vocalist - formally of the 80s rock band Rough Cutt.) There are some great tracks on this Cd, Stay With Me Tonite, Run To You (best track), King of the Hill, and The Joker. Don't pass this CD by, it gets a little scarcer every day now that DeBrow is back.
