5 out of 5 stars A fantastic album, absolutely no doubt.......2002-06-30

..., and last December I asked for this CD as a Christmas present. I knew nothing about 'Good Rock', but on the TV advert shown, I liked the excerps they used. I listened to it all the way through and was quite shocked. I had never heard anything like it before in my life. It was AMAZING. If you are looking for an introduction to the proper Rock Music World, this is it. Teenagers (and adults too) should really consider purchasing this album, there's nothing bad about it. In fact, as a result, I am now a HUGE fan of every single band featured on the album, especially Queen, and, although they weren't included, AC/DC, Kiss, and many other groups that would most probably have been included if there was room on this wonderful double CD. I'd like to thank all those involved with producing the album, it really is a masterpiece!

To those thinking about buying, don't bother waiting, get it now! As Brian May states on the album sleeve notes: 'It's time to give this superb album an airing!'

The only think which could make it better is if all of these groups were not dead or disbanded - and topping the charts today. I wish I was a lot older for the simple reason that I could have been there.

TO ALL TEENAGERS: Get rid of the nu-metal ... -
GET THE REAL STUFF.

ROCK ON, THE WORLD NEEDS YOU.

5 out of 5 stars Strike Up That Air Guitar 'Coz We're Gonna Rock!.......2002-03-23

Advertised (in the UK) with the tagline: "Free Air Guitar With Every Purchase!", "The Best Air Guitar Album In The World Ever!", was compiled by Brian May from the rock band, "Queen". However, this album wasn't without criticism when it hit the record stores last December. Many 'rock' fans complained there was too many *classics* missing from the line-up, while others voiced their opinion about the inclusion of some 'pop' acts too. It doesn't bother me at all because this is a brilliant album. And to further recommend this CD to you, consider this: I now make a living from being a dance DJ but love this CD!

Most of the tracks featured are from the 70s and 80s, although there's a sprinkling of more up-to-date songs too. I can't say - and that's a first! - there isn't a track on this collection I *don't* like. Most are from my school days (when I was a big 'rock' fan - long hair, leather jacket...you get the picture!), so they're all very familiar to me. And no doubt you'll recognise them too. The highlights on CD One (in my opinion) are: "We Will Rock You/Tie Your Mother Down" (Queen), "Smoke On The Water" (Deep Purple), "Walk This Way" (Aerosmith/Run DMC), "Layla" (Derek & The Dominoes), "Since You've Been Gone" (Rainbow), "The Boys Are Back In Town" (Thin Lizzy), "Paranoid" (Black Sabbath) and not forgetting *the* ultimate air-guitar track, "Freebird" (Lynard Skynard).

CD Two also boasts some of the best all-time great rock tracks. Those highlights, again in my own opinion, are: "Voodoo Chile" (Jimmy Hendrix), "My Generation" (The Who), "Ace Of Spades" (Motorhead), "Gimme All Your Lovin'" (ZZ Top), "More Than A Feeling" (Boston), "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" (Bad Company), "Here I Go Again" (Whitesnake) and the track used to end this album, the classic "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.

Of course, everyone will have their own favourites - and there's plenty on "The Best Air Guitar Album In The World Ever" to choose from. So if you want to experience 'rock' before it transformed into 'nu-metal', this is the album for you. Just make sure you claim your free air guitar!

Jon.
