Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars "This beauty that excels".......2004-05-11

4.5 stars. This album is more or less a continuation in the same Goth Metal direction as their previous release "A Dead Poem." This is superior for the the simple reason that Rotting Christ has refined its apporach, and the result is more fluid. I am a fan of the persuasion that prefers the heavier Rotting Christ albums such as "Thy Mighty Contract" and "Khronos 666." But that should be noted when considering that I rated this more mid-tempo release so highly. For that matter, there really isn't a bad Rotting Christ album for sale here at Amazon.com. "Non Servium" is listed here, but I don't see it being readily available to their fans in the near future. But those that are available are all worth owning. If you are more into mid-tempo Gothic dirges with solid guitar riffs, then "Sleep of the Angels" would be a fine purchase. But if you are like me and you prefer a more brutal attack, try "Thy Mighty Contract" or "Khronos 666." All get my attention. There are many fans here who rank this album as their best. It is a fine album, to be sure. Thank you.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad...but my least favorite from them........2004-03-31

Out of all of their albums, this has to be my least favorite. It has a couple great tracks, but the only one that really stands out is the title track. On albums like A Dead Poem, Triarchy of Lost Lovers, and Genesis, they succeed in being far more epic....whereas on this album is feels very tired and run of the mill.

Not a bad album by any means, but I recommend pretty much any of their other albums before this one.

Oh...and they are from Greece. Not Germany.

5 out of 5 stars True Gothic Metal........2003-04-12

Out of all the different gothic bands out there Rotting Christ has my vote for the top three best gothic artists of all time. All the way from Germany these five men kick off some lurid but calm and relaxing gothic metal.

I first saw the album at my local record store and decided to pick it up and check it out, what a great decision I made. The music is so mellow you think your listening to opera but with death vocals. "Sleep of the Angels" is by far Rotting Christ's best album to date. "Dead Poem" was good but it didn't come close to this album. And yes everyone to there own opinion.

I recommend this album to any gothic fan. And if the name of the band offends you cause it's anti-god or whatever just remember.....don't buy it. Anyway, 100% true goth and 110% excellent!

5 out of 5 stars This Is An Excellent Disc!.......2001-05-30

This is a very good disc! I strongly suggest that you purchase it! Why? Well because every track is moving and filled with excellent musicianship! If you are into After Forever, or perhaps Orphanage (An Excellent band from the Netherlands!) Get this disc, it will not dissapoint any metal fan!

4 out of 5 stars rotting christ has really given their best in this album.......1999-10-27

No matter what others might say, I think that this latest album has given the taste to Rotting Christ mood. I followed them since their very first albums, but whenever time passes I feel much more charmed by their gloriousness. Hail to they souls. Hail your Cult Awaiting the next record
