4 out of 5 stars Play This On 10.......2007-01-24

Ac/Dc is amazing....they have been around since the 70s and have never changed their sound...they still do heavy blues tinged rock better then ANYONE in the business
this is the 2nd release with Brian Johnson fronting the band...to those that thought the unbeatable Back In Black was a fluke this is proof that Brian has what it takes...this CD is powerful! If you play it at a low volume it still sounds good but it loses over half of it's punch...the guitar tones really only come out when you crank it up to 10...which is how rock and roll is meant to be...the title cut 'for those about to rock' is rock and roll perfection...a call to all rockers to unite and sing loud and proud, complete with cannon sounds...very powerful...followed by 'put the finger on you' extremely catchy and melodic and full of power,'let's get it up' more sexual charged lyrics backed by very melodic rock fury...'inject the venom' more power...unfortunately the rest of the album doesn't quite keep up that pace...but come on,how can you follow up a start to finish perfect album like Back In Black with another album that is absolute perfection...they come close...snowballed,breaking the rules, night of the long knives and spellbound are not quite up to the beginning tracks but they still ROCK with power...and evil walks rocks hard and is right up there with the beginning of the album...and then there is c.o.d which in my opinion is ac/dc's most underrated song...it is awesome....this CD is a great example of what rock should be

upside - C.O.D..the title cut 'for those about to rock' let's get it up,put the finger on you, inject the venom and evil walks...great rock...great production...great solos and rhythms and Brian Johnson screams with the best of 'em

the downside - the second half has some songs that get a little slow and lose a little steam but it still rocks

the bottom line - a fantastic follow up to the unbeatable 'Back In Black'..if you are just starting out with Ac/Dc start with Back in Black and Highway to hell and then check out this one and Dirty Deeds...honestly,rock doesn't get much better then this...this is powerful and you should run out and buy it...donutman says so!!!

1 out of 5 stars Review #100, Baby.......2007-01-09

I have now listened to all but a few of AC/DC's albums, and I would probably declare this one the second worst (with Highway to Hell being a painfully obvious last place). This was an absolutely horrible follow-up to the phenomenal "Back In Black"; it deserves every ounce of its low ratings and isn't the slightest bit underrated. I don't even know how this band ever got popular; their style is horribly repetitive and simple. If nothing else they were able to influence the future awesomeness of Jet and other such bands, but it's releases like this that make me wonder why the heck classic rock bands even have fans. I don't care for Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Rush, Styx, or other such bands. Oh, I also loathe The Who more so than any of those bands. People need to stop being so trendy and liking all the albums considered "classics" and find some more recent albums to consider classics since the 2000's are shaping out pretty good as rock music goes. As for this specific album, though, it has one good song; the title track. Bands use this technique often when they only have one good song on the album; they make it a hit. The rest of this album isn't as heavy as "Back In Black" and really it's boring enough to be classified a "snoozer". One star is what I'd give it; the AC/DC albums that you should buy are "High Voltage" and "Back In Black". Didn't like the rest.

5 out of 5 stars FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, WE SALUTE YOU FROM AC/DC! .......2007-01-09

I will be writing a review on the legendary brilliant masterpiece album entitled "FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK WE SALUTE YOU" by one of Rock's most greatest premier bands of ALL-TIME and one of Australia's most favorite son's, I give you the great AC/DC! This album was originally released in 1981 on vinyl/LP and cassette on the infamous Atlantic Records label in association with A Warner Communications Company. It also mentions 1981 Leidseplein Presse B.V. on the back cover of the album. I purchased the very first release of this album on vinyl/LP and the matrix or ID number is SD 11111. I also purchased the very first release of this legendary album on Compact Disc and the matrix or ID number is SD 11111-2. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary album, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible.

WOW! What can I say about this legendary album and the great legendary band that recorded it all those years ago that hasn't already been said? At this stage in AC/DC's glorious career, the band proved themselves and persevered with the band's new Leading frontman, Brian Johnson. The band continued to enjoy the rewards and fruits that the good life had to offer following the extreme success and highly critically acclaimed best selling release of their debut album "BACK IN BLACK" (1980) without their heart and soul, the late great Bon Scott. With this in mind, AC/DC were on fire and in great shape and did not want to rest on their laurel's. It was now time for AC/DC to head back into the recording studio and record the follow-up to the extremely successful "BACK IN BLACK." It would be on this next album that AC/DC would really make their official statement in saying that AC/DC lives and that they are here to stay! AC/DC would evolve from the recording studio and deliver to Atlantic Records, "FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK WE SALUTE YOU" in 1981. This album also marks the return of HOT SHOT music producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. In my opinion, in listening to this legendary album, the music is a little slower (Not much though) than we are accustomed to hearing AC/DC perform by their regular standards. However, the band's hard a*s kicking ROCKIN' trademark music is still intact which makes this a GREAT album that KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! At least Angus gets to take a little well deserved break this time and doesn't have to run around like a raged madman, although he still does regardless!

I will list and briefly review all of the song tracks contained in this album in their original exact running order as follows: (1.) "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! This is a GREAT AC/DC SLOW ROCKER TURNED FAST ROCKER THAT KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! This is a great way to begin this legendary album. I love the way the cannon goes off towards the ending and the end of this great Rocker! I love this Rocker so dearly!) (2.) "Put The Finger On You," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this is another GREAT AC/DC ROCKER THAT KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! I love this Rocker as well!) (3.) "Let's Get It Up," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this is another GREAT AC/DC ROCKER THAT KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! I love this Rocker!) (4.) "Inject The Venom," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this is another GREAT AC/DC ROCKER THAT KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! I love Angus' blistering guitar riffs in this Rocker! Brian lets his Lead Vocals go for this Rocker as well! I love it!) (5.) "Snowballed," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this is another GREAT AC/DC ROCKER THAT KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! I love this Rocker!) (6.) "Evil Walks," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this is another GREAT AC/DC ROCKER THAT KICKS A*S! I love this Rocker as well!) (7.) "C.O.D.," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this is another GREAT AC/DC ROCKER THAT KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! I love this Rocker!) (8.) "Breaking The Rules," (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this another GREAT AC/DC ROCKER THAT KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! I love this Rocker as well!) (9.) "Night Of The Long Knives" (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this is another GREAT AC/DC ROCKER THAT KICKS SOME SERIOUS A*S! I love this Rocker as well!) and (10.) "Spellbound." (Outstanding! Brilliant! Superb! Breathtaking! Again, this is another GREAT AC/DC SLOW ROCKER THAT KICKS A*S! I love it as well!) Overall, this album does contain some many great moments that kick some serious a*s!

As you can see, this is definitely one great legendary treasure album worth purchasing that he or she should definitely own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music collection. This legendary album will also prove to persevere and endure the test of time and will get better with age like wine. This legendary priceless gem will always be around to be enjoyed and cherished for many more years to come, NOW AND FOREVER!

In closing, the AC/DC legend is far from being over! AC/DC would still move on to bigger and better things and continue to record more great albums and perform live to more sold-out concerts than ever before! With this in mind, there would also prove to be more tales and stories in the AC/DC legend that would still need to be conquered, told and written in many chapters. But that, my fellow readers and reviewers, is something that you will have to stay tuned and read further on at a later date. Here's to you Brian, Angus, Malcolm, Cliff, Phil and the late great Bon Scott. Keep Persevering! Keep The Faith! R.I.P. Ronald Belford (Bon) Scott, Born 9 July 1946, Died 19 February 1980 at age 33. And as the saying goes folks, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," am I wrong or need I say more? Enough said. Thanks for reading my review and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. AC/DC RULES! BONNY LIVES! Long Live Rock n' Roll! Rock out always and take it easy. Forever in Rock, John L.

4 out of 5 stars The First four songs are among some of there best!!!.......2006-11-19

I have to say this is not even close to being one of the best albums Ive ever bought. However, The first four songs on is are very good. There are no real stand out tracks after that however, they start to all sound too alike. But all the songs have somthing good about them. I think the Bon Scott Era is better then the Brian Johnson Era because the music is more fun, and it has much better beat. I can say that Back in Black is one of the best albums ever recorded. This is a step under that album. After this it starts to become more and more clear that Brian Johnson is not even close to being as good as Bon Scott. I guess Flick of the swich is about as good as this album. and then The Razars Edge is pretty good too. But the only AC/DC albums I could give 5 stars to are Highway to Hell and Back in Black.

5 out of 5 stars What a jerk.......2006-10-11

Dude how can you compare Dire Straits to AC/DC you know why you can't because it's impossible. They are nothing alike and you suck.
