Customer Reviews:
the lowest common denominator.......2005-01-23
ok, this kicks ass. made to measure is an amazingly hard rocken single, it kicks and you love it.
grotesque is an excellent, hard ass song. great riffs and great drums. tairrie's growls over fat bass, very cool indeed.
unmanageable is amazing. also great riffs, mick is an amazing songwriter/guitarist and drummer. spoken word with slow sludgy screaming chorus. unreal.
sex junkie, a cool plasmatics cover. poorly recorded (compared to the other tracks) but still a gem. wendy would be proud.
made to measure edit is made to measure with the swearing removed.
this ep also comes with a short film you can view on your pc, has some cool interviews, and live footage. it also has a really cool insight to the band and the messages they are portraying in their performances.
overall, this ep is excellent, if only it were longer!
love my ruin...but this aint THAT great.......2003-11-09
made to measure...awesome first single
grotesque...pretty ok...gets annoying
unmanageable...very annoying...not that listenable
sex junkie...best song on here along with made to measure
made to measure (edit)...same song, edited...kinda stinks to have it on here cuz made to measure then gets played to much and gets old even though its awesome...and besides, we could use a little profanity! am i right?
mini-movie...pretty cool, its basically just an interview with all the bandmembers and some live footage 8/10
I'm made to measure, baby. One size does not fit all........2003-11-06
My Ruin's 2003 EP, "The Shape of Things to Come," is a Goth metal sample that sets the tone for "The Horror of Beauty," the band's third LP. Mick Murphy's guttural guitar strings and Meghan Mattox's stalking bass greatly complement Miss B.'s bloodcurdling scream. The overall metal sound is quite raw; it appears to echo off the walls of an empty stage. The shrieking frontwoman once again assaults mainstream listeners with her simple, unapologetic lyrics.
The group's single, "Made to Measure," blatantly attacks both MTV and pop magazines. In anger, Tairrie B. exorcizes the demons that plague the music industry; it's an industry that places too much emphasis on a woman's looks and not enough on her talent.
"Grotesque" briefly refers to the artificial fassade of Christianity. Its lyrics describe, in graphic detail, how a victim loses faith while suffering demonic possession.
"Unmanageable" casts a stark spotlight upon Miss B.'s sensuous, spoken word poetry. Addressing her audience, she declares how she had to overcome years of abuse and mismanagement in order to retain her artistic integrity.
Perhaps the biggest highlight listeners can anticipate is My Ruin's cover of "Sex Junkie" by the Plasmatics. Proudly profane, Miss B. adapts the role of a street dominatrix, growling and crooning with all she's worth. As a whole, the song is raw, fast, and untamed; it will definitely late Wendy O. Williams proud.
"The Shape of Things to Come" is an excellent CD to listen to. It's suitable for any headbanger seeking something different.
