Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Worth buying, when you have cash to burn.......2004-05-31

This album in my opinion was good. Although the vocalist sounds like Dani Filth, from Cradle Of Filth, his voice is in no way are clear or crisp as Dani's. Other than that the album was worth a listen to. The keyboards were nicely done as well as the guitar, the drumming could have been better however.

5 out of 5 stars My favourite album.......2003-09-11

This is by far my favourite album I own, and I own hundreds of albums (the majority in metal - mostly black metal). Right from the haunted beginnings of Goetia to The Danse Macabre you will be hooked.
Alot of people dismiss Hecate Enthroned (at least the first 3 albums - in my opinion the only good ones) for being a Cradle of Filth copy cat. They may have similar vocals and instrumental tracks but once you have listened to this album a few times you realise that those things are vastly different from CoF. In my opinion, the vocals are much more screamy, with alot more feeling. I am not dissing CoF (at least early CoF) but I just think Hecate Enthroned are far more superior. Hecate Enthroned uses the acoustic guitar in a few songs which also adds a nice touch. Every song on this album is engulfed with emotion, whether it be sadness, or anger - it is brilliant.
Stand out tracks, if I had to choose them, would be Beneath a December Twilight, The Spell of the Winter Forest and Within the Ruins of Eden.
Buy this album. It will be one of the best purchases you ever buy.

4 out of 5 stars Not Bad..........2003-04-22

So the singer sounds just like CoF's Dani Filth, circa 'Dusk..& Her Embrace'...BIG DEAL! Why does this seem to be such a bone of contention with everyone? 1,000 vocalists sounded like Tom Fischer (Warrior) after Celtic Frost debuted, but so what? Makes sense that if he can well pull off the Filth vocal, then go for it! Doesn't really matter who came first, as long as there's QUALITY in songwriting, musicianship, etc. This is a pretty good effort, and since Dani Filth's vocal style appeals to me, it's nice to be able to hear it from a band other than CoF. Every band is an extension of a band that came before it, to some degree. Amazon offers snippets, so 'don't like it, don't buy it'. I bought it.

2 out of 5 stars people should not compare these guys to cradle of filth.......2001-10-18

This album is just terrible. The keyboards suck, the vocals are horrible, and the guitars are just lame.Drums in black metal have to be powerful, and this has to be some of the worst drumming i've ever heard. I mostly judge on the keyboards, and i have to say that if you wanna get good black metal keys, look somewhere else. Christfire is actually a good song, very melodic and pretty well written, but everything else is just down the drain. Listen to Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, or Twilight Ophera if you want good black metal.

5 out of 5 stars Hecate Enthroned -The Slaughter Of Innocence.......2000-09-12

I cannot begin to describe how great this band is. I've been a fan of Hecate Enthroned since their inception. Their is no other black metal band who even comes close to capturing the combination of hatred, anger, and heartfelt sorrow the way that Hecate Enthroned does. And trust me, I've heard it all. This band has such passion in their music. Very powerful stuff. They let you release your anger with their intense aggression and then they drown you in sorrow with their beautiful melodies and atmospheres. And you can tell that the vocalist really feels what he is saying, as he puts his emotions with the music perfectly. Few bands can really touch you the way these guys do. Hecate are constantly being called Cradle of Filth clones. This is absolutely rediculous. It's obvious that alot of people need to listen to music more. The only similarities between the two bands is that they play a "similar" style. Hecate is different lyrically, in image, are more aggessive, and certainly of a darker nature. And in my opinion, they capture the true essence of sorrow way better than Cradle. I'm not knocking Cradle, as I am a fan of them too, but these two bands are totally different. And for all those who still say Hecate are Cradle rip-offs, truth be known, Hecate was doing what they do before Cradle of Filth was around. So bottom-line. If you like your black metal with blasting drums, aggressive guitar, hate-filled vocals sang with passion, and beautiful keyboard atmospheres it just doesn't get any better than Hecate Enthroned.
