Excellent Non-Album Track.......2006-04-21

Ancient Forest of Elves is the CD single from Rhapsody guitarist Luca Turilli's debut solo album King of the Nordic Twilight. The single contains just three tracks: the standard album version of Ancient Forest of Elves, a duet version of Warrior's Pride, and an all-new track called Knight of Immortal Fire.

I already had the full-length album, and the duet version of Warrior's Pride just makes a cheesy ballad even cheesier, so I essentially purchased this single for just one song. Was it worth it? You bet. Knight of Immortal Fire is an excellent song, and is as good as anything on King of the Nordic Twilight. It's similar to Legend of Steel and the album's title track, though not quite as epic as the latter.

If you're a Luca Turilli or Rhapsody fan (is there a difference?) then you're going to want to own this single. Sure it's a lot to pay for just one new song, but the song is actually good enough to be worth the money.

Lacking Emotion.......2002-10-08

I would like to recommend this CD single but my taste in Metal is largely that of a progressive kind. I would consider this as power metal and not particuly good power metal at that. The songs are lacking emotion and i would much rather just put on a Blind Guardian CD like nightfall in middle earth any day.

Well, I don't know what the other tracks sound like, but I downloaded "The Ancient Forest of Elves", and it's just...words escape me. Have you ever seen the Saturday Night Live where Jack Black sings that birthday song to replace the regular one? It sounds like that. There's a flute, a lot of synthesizers, guitars, just..soaring vocals. Kind of in the spirit of Mr. Roboto by Styx, but better, way better, if that's even possible. It has a spoken word part too, that goes: and so a new legend begins, the boarders of space and time are broken again...there in the twilight lands of the north, where the laments of the suffering souls WRITHE!
You should put this on a mix tape to test a person. If they are cool they will like it.

Lucca Turilli is a solo project from the guittar player of Rhapsody. Each time that you listen to the musics of this single you'll feel something diferent, and you never want to stop listening. Luca Turilli really knows how to arrange the musics and feelings.You must get this CD, and the others of Luca Turilli, because you'll became adicted in this band.
