4 out of 5 stars Risen from the undead.......2002-05-12

Anyone, who stood on the corner of the stage with me at the Liverpool Stadium in 1972 listening to such classics as Spunk Rock, Bananas, H Samuel and C'mon, will have passed through the stages of Man's soft rock (Slow Motion) and hard rock (Maximum Darkness - wow!)and witnessed the gentle slide into old age and oblivion with "Welsh Connection". Occasional glimpses of life with an odd gig here and there convinced many that they hadn't quite disappeared - and then WHAM! HERE IT IS! WE HAVEN'T BEEN AWAY AT ALL!
This album suddenly appears, recapturing the spirit of the early 70's. If any one album can bridge a 20-year gap then this is it. And it's all here. The heavy, unforgettable riffs (Mad on Her, Out of the Darkness), the melodic rock (Women, The Price), and finishing off with a tribute to the late, great John Cippollina ("on the wings of Mercury, a Quicksilver messenger") who played with Man on the "Maximum Darkness" tour (now there was an unforgettable gig!)
Yes, any fan of Man from the early 70's, or anyone wanting to see what the commotion was in Wales in 1971-1975, this is a must for your collection. And you won't be disappointed.
So why only 4 stars? Well, if the truth is known, after 20 years of almost-silence, I thought we'd have got a double album! But I always was greedy like that!
