2 out of 5 stars It's so bad, it's.......no, It's just bad. Real Bad........2007-01-12

If you buy this. You will know what it's like to be sucker. Stick to what you know, (pantera, down, superjoint ritual) and so on.

But wait! I want to know this? Who dished out the money to press this CD? Who paid for the artwork? Who is that money burning fool, opps.... I mean, great businessman with great vision? I am looking for a friend like you! We could hang! Contact me at: hellbound@inbox.com

Christian Casinos!? Man, we'll be rich! I'll even let you put the licenses in your name! with everything else.

3 out of 5 stars VIKING CROWN BROKEN DOWN.......2006-03-21

Why all the bad reviews? This album sounds pretty cool. I wasn't expecting to hear pantera. It's pretty abient and spacey. I like it better than superjoint.
Not saying I would buy it(might burn it)...but...not bad- or worse than other bands trying to do similar things.
;)

1 out of 5 stars PHIL WHY????.......2006-01-19

O.k. first off let my say, I'm a huge PHIL ANSELMO fan and I like black metal. But this is just a waste of money! I don't care what the hell old black metal sounds like, this sucks and most old black metal sucks too. If you want a crappy cd that sounds like it was recorded in a garbage can THIS IS IT!! If I made a lame cd in my basement with phil anselmo would you buy it?? Let me know because I need money! BOTTOM LINE THE ONLY REASON ANYONE OWNS THIS CD IS BECAUSE THEY HEARD PHIL WAS IN IT, THEN THEY WERE PISSED AFTER THEY HEARD IT!!!

1 out of 5 stars joke band.......2005-03-04

Phil anselmo said himself and I quot "that was a joke band with me and opal, and killjoy from necrophagia. I played bass guitar. It's like bad, bad, bad black metal. I'm not doing it anymore" ( from Revolver magazine May/June 2002) pure crap

1 out of 5 stars "True" black metal..........2005-01-05

First off, let me say that this is not the worst "true" black metal album I've heard. Nargaroth is a black metal band so bad I thought it was a joke at first. Believe me, it gets much worse than this. But Viking Crown would be on par with very early Mayhem and the like. So, let me say again, this album wasn't as bad as I was thinking it was going to be.

However, it still sucked. I like Killjoy too. He comes out with some good stuff sometimes. And of course, I like Phil Anselmo, cause he brought Morbid Angel on a tour with Pantera. But this cd is just pathetic. Nobody wants to relive the early church-burning black metal days of Burzum and Darkthrone. They had great talent, and it would show most of the time in their songwriting, but the production sound was horrible.

Now, unlike what 'god shall burn "...and he shall"' thinks, this is not true black metal just because it has bad production. "True" black metal was all in the songwriting. Mayhem had it, Marduk had, hell even Burzum had occasionally. But Viking Crown put too much emphasis on the "we're true black metal cause we have poor production" idea. Look at what Mayhem, Marduk, and Dark Funeral have gone on to do. Their production sound has improved. Why? Probably because that's what musicians want. The only reason for the poor production in the early days of black metal was because it was a hated style of music, nobody wanted to touch it, and the people making it were fairly poor. Phil Anselmo probably has a good deal of money, and Killjoy is a big enough name in the metal community that he could get enough money to put out a decent sounding album. But, I heard that Phil himself said that this band is nothing more than a joke band, so it should probably be treated as such. As a joke band though, they could have put a little more creativity into it.

So "who really cares" if the production sounds like it was recorded on a walkman? I do. Because I don't want to spend 10 bucks on something I could have made myself for free.
