The BEST of Bon Jovi rock!.......2001-10-23
This album flat out ROCKS folks. Yes, you will absolutely choke on the price, as I did, but believe me, it's worth it! If you like Bon Jovi's rock tunes, then this is for you. If you prefer their more mushy, sappy side with songs like "Always, Bed of Roses" or "Thank You For Loving Me," then run for the hills because you won't get it with this album. There is not one syrupy ballad on this--nothing but ROCK! Since this rock side of Bon Jovi has always been what I liked about them, this album was perfect for me. I hated "Crossroad," because of the sappy stuff, as well as it's inclusion of "Prayer '94," and "Blaze of Glory," which I also did not like. I thought to myself, "I know these guys can rock--some of these other tracks prove it--so where's the rest of it?" It's all in this album, from the early 80's to '01. The sad thing is that die hard fans probably already have most of the tracks on this album, so they may not need or want it. The casual fan may like this compilation, but will be unlikely to swallow the cost of it. My perspective: if you simply want Bon Jovi's best rock tunes, this is the way to go--you will spend more buying the individual albums to get these tracks than you will with this single compilation. The sound quality, by the way, is excellent. Since the inlay is mostly in Japanese, I can't tell if there are any claims that the tracks have been remastered or not. Judging by the sound, I would say they have been as the older, 80's material sounds just as good as the newer stuff. As an added bonus, you get a mini-disc that contains four live tracks. This disc clocks in at just over 23 minutes and I found the sound quality to be superior to the recently released "One Wild Night Live" album. If only that album could've been as good as this little thing! All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase (even if my wallet has been banged and bruised as a result!). Whether it's worth it to you or not will depend on your own persepective.
