Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Pleasant surprise.......2005-07-13

Being a fairly big fan of the classic UFO lineup I hesitated to buy this album. I mean, it is kind of like Ozzy without Randy. You know that it is probably going to be better than 95% of the slop out there, but should I fork out my cash for something that is probably going to ultimately dissapoint?
Glad I did. I have always liked Kollman's solo work (especially Cosmosquad-FANTASTIC) and the master was given the freedom to come up with riffs and phrases that give the disc a varied and mature texturing. As always, Mogg's lyrics are moody and complex. Not a single dud on the album.
Not exactly UFO, but a great hard rock album that would receive rave reviews if not for the looming shadow of Schenker.

4 out of 5 stars Schenker Missed Out..........2004-04-20

This is a very solid, complete effort from the UF portion of UFO. Muddy's Gold, Jerusalem, Whip That Groove, and Last Man in Space are very well sung & well played by the group. This is one of those albums that you wish had 12 or 13 songs on it. Cover art isn't too bad either. Although I think Force It had the best cover.

4 out of 5 stars As UFO as it gets.......2004-04-16

This is an oddball release, arriving hot on the heels of Walk On Water, but without Michael, so they can't call it an official UFO project. Inside the box you'll find pretty much what you expect out of turn of the century UFO, Phil's voice being an instantly recognizable commodity even as he ages. Way and Raymond are also along for the ride, but Jeff Kollman's guitar is the star of this show. Phil seems to have a knack for finding guys that can play like Michael without completely aping him and Kollman fits the mold nicely. I wouldn't go as far as calling this a classic in the Walk On Water sense, but it kicks the carp out of Covenant and Sharks, making me think that this 3/5 of UFO is better off without Michael along. All in all a pretty classy release.

5 out of 5 stars This is world class!.......2003-05-07

"Chocolate box" clearly shows that Phil Mogg hasn't run out of fuel. This is a very strong album and songs like the captivating "Muddy's gold", the very heavy "Too close to the sun", the speedy "This is a life", together with the 1970's sounding "Death in the family", the rocking "King of the city" as well as the slower, emotional and melodic "Sparkling wine" all have the potential to be classic tunes. I believe this album is that good it's worth top rating!

5 out of 5 stars Mogg,Way & Kollman.......2002-05-02

I was pleasantly suprized to find "Edge of the world" in a music selection a few yrs. ago & even more pleased to find another called "Chocolate Box" After listening to it after the 1st time, I knew I had another WINNER! I thought "who is this new guy" Jeff who? Never heard of him. Knowing now he has a great style all of his own now I will end up buying all his previous cd's because of his great addition to the Mogg/Way sound & style. Muddy's Gold & Jerusalem are my two favorite's plus:"Whip that groove" is an instant classic in my mind. This one is a total must for any UFO fan.
