Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Edguy just keeps getting better!.......2005-10-02

I've been a devoted fan of Edguy's music for a little over 4 years now. I have all of their CDs, as well as Tobias Sammet's two Avantasia discs, and I can only think of a couple of songs in the entire Edguy catalogue that I don't particularly care for, and even those songs arent' completely unlistenable. With that being said, I feel that the Superheroes EP features some of Edguy's best music to date. The very first time I heard the EP, I thought to myself that the songs were great, but they just didn't seem to have the Edguy sound that I was used to. That's definitely not a putdown, it's just that the CD wasn't what I was expecting. However, since I never know what to expect upon first hearing a new Edguy release, I got over my initial bewilderment fairly quickly.
Simply put, I firmly believe that this is the CD that will allow Edguy to earn the recognition they so richly deserve here in the US. With the possible exception of "Judas at the Opera," I can honestly imagine American radio stations playing all the songs on this discs, especially "Blessing in Disguise" and either version of the tital track. While I really love all the songs on this CD, "Judas at the Opera" is by far my favorite. It's a fun song, and is most similar to songs Edguy has done in the past. Plus, it features guest vocals from former Helloween lead singer Michael Kiske, which is a real treat in itself.
Bottom line: this CD is a must have for any hard rock fan, whether you're familiar with Edguy or not. Even if you're not a fan of metal music, I'd be willing to bet that the great melodies and harmonies on this disc will convert you into an Edguy fan. Buy this CD, and you definitely won't be disappointed. Also, keep your ears tuned to your local pop/rock radio stations; I sincerely hope that "Superheroes" will be getting some airplay within the next month or so.
