Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The Lost Gem in Metal's Crown.......2006-10-25

Winger is easily the most maligned metal band in history. Wiped out by Nirvana, ridiculed by Beavis and Butthead, singled out for hostility by Metallica. In part, they deserved it. The pretty boy dancing in the videos, the big hair, Kip's unfortunate turn in Playgirl magazine. "She's Only Seventeen" will haunt them forever.

Forget all of that. Forget that you even know what these guys look like or sound like. This album contains what is arguably 10 of the most well crafted metal songs of the 90's. Incredible musicianship (as always), pop-sensible songwriting, and choruses and riffs so memorable it would make Lennon and McCartney proud.

Stop and consider who these guys are without all the hairband MTV hoopla. Kip Winger - Alice Cooper's bass player. Red Beach - classically trained virtuoso who stepped up to fill the gigantic shoes of George Lynch in Dokken. Rod Morgenstein - drummer of the 70's prog-fusion masters The Dixie Dregs (not to mention drummer for Jelly Jam with John Myung (Dream Theater) and Ty Tabor (King's X). These are three incredibly accomplished musicians and one of the tightest trios ever assembled. It shows on every tune, as does the hit making magic of the Winger/Beach writing team.

HIGHLY recommended for Winger fans, and necessary for the Winger haters. Grunge had wielded it's grimy sword by the time this band redeemed itself from it's hairspray past. This album stands above all others as an example that the image is nothing, the songs are everything.

1 out of 5 stars Flashy hair metal at its worst.......2006-06-13

I have to believe that the people giving this CD a great review are doing so jokingly. I have to believe that, because otherwise my faith in the ability of people to distinguish good music from utter feces will be totally shattered. Hair metal polluted the airwaves in the late 80's and early, early 90's. Thankfully, the general public becan to grow tired of the stale rock stare heroics of it's participants, and moved on to grunge and alternative rock. There was still good metal in 1993, don't get me wrong... but Winger was NOT putting it out. I read a review of this CD on a different site, and the person there was convinced this was Kip Winger's greatest release. I decided to borrow a copy from a less-descriminating friend and give it a listen to. This CD is one of the worst one's I have ever heard. The music is soooo tired, I can't even imagine the musicians themselves getting excited over this. As far as it being Wingers best, that would not say much even if it was. Truthfully, it sounds the same as all his late 80's releases. If you are still listening to this in 2006, and still defending it, there is something really, really wrong with you.

5 out of 5 stars MASSIVE MASTERPIECE OF MELODIC METAL.......2006-05-16

This record is SO good! This is heavy, melodic, innovative, spiritual... in a word a masterpiece! The mix and the production is beyond belief and the songwriting is SO inspired !
Lookout for the reunion album in the fall 2006 which is set to be the proper prosecution of this cd !!!

5 out of 5 stars Just as awesome as Winger's first two albums!.......2006-04-30

Winger is one of the GREATEST hair metal bands ever and this CD is just as awesome as "Winger" and "In The Heart Of The Young!" Anyone would be a fool NOT to listen to this CD or any other of Winger's albums! Winger totally ROCKS!!!!

The best song on here is called Spell I'm Under! Totally Winger! My favorite next to Miles Away and Headed For A Heartbreak! These Metal Ballads just have a special magic that these so called "ballads" of today's bands just don't have!

I love this whole album and it's just as WINGER as any of their other albums! It doesn't stray too far and totally sounds like them!

Another song that ROCKS is Down Incognito. I love this rocker! The music itself is awesome!

Blind Revolution Mad is another great rock song!

Actually ALL of Winger's CD's kick ass and ROCK!!! Get the whole Winger collection, you will NOT regret it!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Now this is rockin!!!.......2006-01-07
