5 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE.......2006-04-08

This Album is a great album. Although it may be a bit different than the past albums, but isn't that what you're supposed to do with music, try new things. You can't always be the same or it wouldn't be a n new album. I have all the albums and I do believe this one to be one of the best yet. Can wait until the next one.

4 out of 5 stars Nicely Done.......2005-04-08

Perpetual continues to turn the corner in the bands new direction. The line up this time consists of Lenny Wolf (Mr. Kingdom) who continues to write and perform the songs while Eric Foerster handles the guitar solos. The result is an excellent blend of WELL THOUGHT OUT melodic compositions with a hard rock riff (the equivalent of a fine coctail followed by a whisky chaser).

The album begins with the sound of an engine in the electricfying "Gotta Move Now," which sets the driving force that is continued in the concluding song "Free Bird" (not to be confused with Skynyrd). The third song "Crown of Moscow" is a stunning ballad; however, it's etherial beginning is marred by distortion do to poor mix down (shame on ya Genkel, Lenny's gonna have to smack ya one). More fantastic tracks are to follow, such as "Silhouette Paintings, Sun in the Mind, King of Nothing, Connecting Pain, Dragonfly," and of course "Gotta Move Now, and Free Bird."

Wolf is to be congradulated on his effort to give the band it's fresh new sound blending the ambient, hard rock pace, and trademark vocal. The talent that Mr. Wolf possesses is to keep his vision vintage while expanding new sounds. Not easy to do for a band that's almost 20 years old. It is an evolution that can be heard from the bands milestones such as the first self entitled album to Master 7 to Independent and to it's most current success Perpetual.

I have been a fan since the beginning. The bands catalog was hard to collect, but I managed to do it over the years. I enjoy the fact that they are underrated and NOT overplayed. That makes this music even more personal for me. Let's give credit, where credit is do: Nicely done gentlemen, I can't wait for the next effort.

1 out of 5 stars The Kingdom has fallen.......2004-12-19

The Good
The only song that did anything for me was "Silhouette Paintings". It's a power ballad that has some decent guitar work and rhythms. If the rest of the songs were power ballads, it would have saved this album.

The Bad
Kingdom Come set out to blend mystic sounds with heavy music, but failed to make it work. Perhaps they should have used those sound throughout the songs instead of just the introduction. Dark, understated riffs power "Gotta Move". Wolf's vocals are smooth, but lack the punch that they used to have. The repetitive lick that begins, sustains, and ends "Hang Em' High becomes mundane after a while. The 'mystic sounds' of wind chimes introduce "Crown of Moscow". I recognize a power section in the middle, but it's not that powerful. When you get to the fourth track "Time to Realign" you start to hear a pattern forming. Sadly, that pattern is uninspiring, repetitive riffs, and tired and forced vocals. I mean, Lenny Wolf even looks tired in his publicity photo. I listened to this CD twice and it still did nothing for me. Songs like "King of Nothing" and "Connecting Pain" just lacked the energy and effort that Kingdom Come put forth on their debut and subsequent albums of the late eighties. I'd compare Kingdom Come to Rod Stewart; Rod started off as a kick-ass rocker, but now he's more of a Vegas lounge singer. Pretty much sums it up.

The Verdict
The Kingdom has fallen.

3 out of 5 stars perpetual review by ivan kavanski.......2004-11-03

well i give this latest attempt from lenny wolf & co. 3 stars....this is a far cry different than the independent cd in terms of heavy music, although it still has that "kingdom come " sound as in most of his recordings. this cd has a mellow side to it. it is more so than a hard rock cd. id say half & half.this is a must have for the kingdom come fan or a good cd if you are looking for something different to listen to.there are no pictures of the band in the liner notes but the lyrics are included. i have been a fan of kingdom come since the start & have most of the collection complete. this is not one of the strongest cd's from the band but one of the most unique.this cd seems to have a conscience to it.my favorite track is # 3... crown of moscow.a light but sensual well written song.i would suggest you check this one out.....also check out the kingdom come web site for more band & music info.www.kingdomcome.de www.lennywolf.comshow your support for your artist & tell fm american radio stations to play them....
