Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars leatherwolf blows !.......2004-01-02

man after reading these reviews on leatherwolf i would prolly think they were pretty good but after hearing the cd i can honestly say they suck sooo bad i couldnt believe it !! i like more of a progressive edge to music with depth and a lot of talent and thinking behind the music like dream theater , symphony x and so forth ! all i have to say is these people that say leatherwolf is good, really have a dumb ear and dont know what talented music is ! im not here to run anybody down but i cant see sitting here and letting anyone throw away there hard earned money on a band that sounds like stuff me and my band play when were drunk and not even really trying to be serious about anything ! if you truly want a kick ass band , you need to check out any symphony x cd and youll know what i mean !

5 out of 5 stars Leatherwolf is back!.......2001-11-29

I loved leatherwolf in the 80's and even today and I really enjoy their music. I own all their albums on CD, Leatherwolf (1984 Grandslam), Leatherwolf (1987 Island), Street Ready (1989 Island), and yes I even own the ulrtra rare CD soundtrack to the film Return of the Living Dead Part II (1987 Island), which features the Leatherwolf song Alone In The Night, never before available on any of their albums. When I heard they released a Live album, I was reluctant to buy it because I am not a fan of Live music. I decided to anyway just to complete my collection. Plus the CD cover was a little lame. Surprisingly I loved it! Basically the only live CD I love. It even contains songs sung live that were not availble on their first albums. It's great! Leatherwolf fans or even just metal fans, pick yours up today!

5 out of 5 stars Leatherwolf ROCKS!.......2000-06-09

I have been a fan of Leatherwolf since I first saw them back in the late 80s. They are true perveyors of AOR, much like Scorpions or April Wine. I have a fever, and the only cure in MORE Leatherwolf.

5 out of 5 stars Wide Open.......2000-03-08

After years of personally knowing the band Leatherwolf, I will update you all on thier where-abouts...Leatherwolf is playing live again, and still rockin'! They are currently recording a new album and are looking into a US tour at the end of 2000. They recently played at METALFEST 2000 in Germany w/ Dokken, and many other bands. While Leatherwolf's recognition in the US is less than deserved, they are still in mainstream radio play in Euorpe, and Asia. Look for Leatherwolf's forthcoming album with all new tracks, to be the best of the old, and the new.

3 out of 5 stars A poor recording of good material..........2000-02-07

As I have always been a big fan of Leatherwolf's flavor of music, I immediately ordered a copy of Wide Open upon learning of it's availability. Unfortunately, the disc does not live up to my expectations.

For a band that has always been touted as an amazing live act, Leatherwolf do little to sustain that repiutation on Wide Open. While the actual mix is solid, the band is not.

For the most part, the band sounds as if they are struggling to keep up with the original pace of the songs. On other tracks, the back up vocals are so weak, that the songs suffer mightily. Even Michael's once amazing voice shows the effects of age. Most of his trademark high notes are no where to be found on this disc.

Throughout the course of the CD, the band sounds as if years have passed since they played these songs (and that just may be the case).

None the less, I sincerely hope that these guys get back into the studio and put something fresh out. I also hope that some record company somewhere re-releases their first two offerings.
