Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Still taking this one in..........2006-01-05

I'm a longtime Zody fan so I was stoked to get this one pretty quick after it came out. It starts off with a solo from Cobalt Stargazer that is...pretty? Seriously, it sounds great, and you wonder what Zody and the boys have in store after it. The next track is the album title, and it is sleazy and catchy, albeit short. The track after it is good too, and you start to realize that Cobalt really shines on this record. The hit here is "Love Conquers All". Zody put some time into this one and offers some great lyrics that fans will appreciate. He also varies his vocal delivery a bit in one part, and it enhances the song. After that one, he goes right into "Northern Boy". I am not sure what to say. I think this one could be/will be on the radio, and at this point one realizes this is one of their most commercial efforts yet. But if you appreciate the songs 'Meanstreak' and "Kidstuff' you will love it.
The choruses are (yes, choruses--there are background singers of different types on this one and it works, nicely) sweeping and draw you in. I have to say this record surprised me in that it is not totally what I expected from Zody, after the brutally hard, sleazy and satisfying "I AM ROCK" cd. with that one it is like Zodiac was on a crazed drinking/drug binge and out of a bad breakup. ON this one it sounds like maybe he married a playboy playmate, because that pure mean-ness takes a real punch on this one...it is not here save for a few tracks (which I find to be my favorites, go figure). Anyway, it's good to hear them again and they sound especially good musically, just don't expect another "Tatooed-Beat Messiah" or "I AM ROCK". This one goes in a newer direction which should delight many but I forwarn the less open-minded hardcore fans of yesteryear...it's more catchy than sleazy! There is no "Christmas Eve on the Reiperbahn" or "F***ed by Rock" on this disc.
NOTE: You'll love the bass player's name.
