Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars This Album will never get old.......2005-06-17

It is a shame that Tim Skold is backing Marilyn Manson on bass. This is one of my all time favorate albums. This has been a staple in my collection for nearly 15 years. From beginning to end, this is glam metal done better. Harry Cody shines and shows us what a shredder can do and does it better. "Heartbreak BLVD" is a guitar driven gem with great hooks and fun to listen to. "Living Without You" is a power ballad that should have been an anthem for the broken hearted. Do yourself a favor and buy this now.

4 out of 5 stars Zinny Sounds Bitter (AKA. Johnny Angel).......2005-06-15

Well if you can't find what is spectacular about this record you don't like hard rock music. I have to say that it took me a few listens to get past Tims voice. He isn't the greatest singer! But there is no denying the songs. The song writing from the first album to the second are leaps and bounds better. Tim and Harry are at the top of their game. Honestly the worst part of the debut record was Zinny's over the top shrieking. It was a good album with a singer who didn't really know what he was doing.
The albums highlights are "Heartbreak Blvd.", "Living Without You" & "Can't Fool Me". With Tim's vocals on the second album it is a much easier listen. As the debut becomes annoying after a few songs in a row. I only wish Nirvana didn't completely kill hard rock because by now Shotgun Messiah would have been a household name. Harry was supposed to have recorded with Matt Kramer who sang on the first two Saigon Kick records. If it really exists let me know I am interested.

5 out of 5 stars Song for Song, one of the best albums.......2005-04-01

As a big fan of rock and metal I have to say that this was one of the greatest albums I have ever listened to. Song for song it refuses to let me down, just the epic sound enough is something I wish I had more of. I know little of the band at this point, but there must have been some serious issues that caused them not to become a mega rock band. Very glad I was recommended to this album and plan on soon picking up their self-titled album. An amazing sound and unique style, wow.

5 out of 5 stars great hard rock album, shut up johnny, I mean zinny.......2005-03-06

with the exception of the reviewer Johnny Angel who I think is the old singer for shotgun, Zinny j. Zan, I believe most hard rock fans will find this album indespensable. It is true SM changed and evolved on each successive release. The first cd was glam, decent but not great. This cd, straight ahead hard rock, delivered better than most of thier competition. The third cd, violent new breed(my personal favorite) was industrial metal. The true test of any band is the quality of the songs. This band passes with flying colors! Second Coming Starts out strong and caries you on a journey through many different styles of rock, each one delivered with power and grace. Not a bad song in the bunch. Looking back so many years later, all that matters is the music, not labels and this is great music. When a band can change styles and still be better at those styles than the bands that stick with their formula, that just proves their veratility and incredible talent.

1 out of 5 stars Another flop for SM trying to be something they weren't.......2004-09-04

Garbabe, plain and simple. Anybody who gives this album more than two stars couldn't hit sand if they fell off a camel.

Here we have SM firing their singer after a very promising (and hard rock) effort in their first album. Now that album was great. Here we have poser-boy Tim Skold (now in Marilyn Manson, go figure) taking over the vocal spot and pushing the band into the industrial direction. The album tanked, was never accepted by the few fans they managed to keep from the first LP, and shredder Harry Cody and the drummer ended the band soon after(I'd jump off the Titanic if I knew it was sinking too).

Again, the first LP by this band with great singer Zinny J. Zan was incredible and had THEY STUCK WITH THEIR FORMULA they might have had a lot more success, similar to say Skid Row who also released a great debut LP that same year and managed to find pretty good sucess for a hard rock "hair" band that came out in that very late 80's. SM didnt do this tho. Again, if any blame can be placed on this sink-hole, it goes to Tim Skold.

Avoid at all costs.
