Customer Reviews:
The best Death Metal CD I have heard period.......2007-02-20
Undeceived is IT. In the Christian Metal batch...this cd wipes the floor with ANYTHING I have heard. Its a shame that there arent more Christian bands out there that can hack this level of metal authority. In comparison to secular extreme/death metal...I have yet to come across anything that surpasses the package that Extol delivered with Undeceived. Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, and even the tech metal bands like B/w the Buried and Me, Death, Cynic, etc...all great bands. But nothing like Undeceived. Its got everything you want from this type of band, and everything that MOST of the bands DONT do.
Standard stuff:
Its heavy. Rediculously heavy (B tuning), but also clear and understandable. Its technical. Polymeter, odd times, syncopation, etc...its all in there. Some of the best metal riffs I have encountered lie on this disc. The music is tight and everything is audible, even the bass.
Not so standard stuff (as far as the Death Metal genre goes):
Its got GROOVE. You can seriously headbang to this stuff...but you often have to think about it to do it, b/c of the rhythmic syncopation. Its got MELODY. I can hum everything on the CD, even the insane riffs. Its DIFFERENT. Never heard anything like it. Every song sounds totally unique, but in a musical, satisfying way.
I listen to everything. Classical, Jazz (REAL jazz), Rock, Metal, Country, Blues, Etc. I am also a guitar player and music major. I like melodic and memorable music. Not stuff thats just technical for the sake of being technical. This CD has remained a standby for the last 4 or 5 years..while other guys like Children of Bodom, B/w the Buried and Me, Dream Theater, Scar Symmetry, etc., have received less and less play time over the years. This CD is consistent. When I want face melting metal, I turn to Undeceived.
Any true metal head should be impressed.
First class Melodic Heavy Music.......2006-11-25
When I first was introduced to Undecieved 6 years ago I was not at all into Black Metal and the like. This band has grabbed my attention and won't let it go!!! The more I listen to this CD the more I seem to like it, I highly recommend this album to anyone that likes heavy yet melodic music with top notch musicianship. World-class is a worthy term for this unique band from Norway.
suck be thy name.......2006-09-18
what the hell is wrong with you people?!? this is not death metal!!!! Scream Jesus!!!!! AHHHH! This is the worst album I've ever heard! The worst!!! I will buy 20 copies of this just to break them! For shame!!!
great album.......2006-06-29
This album is Extol's best release by far. Peter's vocals sound very good and they fit the music perfectly. I also enjoyed the way he sings in a few of the songs. If you're a fan of Extol's earlier work, you will like this album. However, fans of The Blueprint Dives may be a little disappointed seeing as how Extol changed their style a lot on that album. The best songs on this album are Inferno, Undeceived, Ember, and Of Light and Shade. Enjoy.
Ahhhhh... Good ol' Extol.......2006-05-24
Many claim this to be Extol's best release and I agree with that but also many think that their next two releases, Synergy and Blue Print Dives, suck. I totally disagree. Moving on. I've heard this called black metal but that is hardly true. Instead, this is progressive/technical death metal with a little doom and black metal mixed in. This was also my first Extol cd and is not only one of my favorite metal albums but also one of my favorite cds of any music genre. I love everything about this cd: the different vocals, the violins, cellos, and other musical instruments used, and the lyrics. I recommend this to those who love Opeth, Death, Atheist, Cynic, Pestilence, and this type of death metal and death metal period.
