Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as I expected.........2007-01-27

Just to let everybody know Im very old school when it comes to hardcore (Cro-Mags, MadBall, and 25 ta Life) So when I heard about this band I jumped to pick it up. The band itself is terrific and the lyrics are exactly what I would expect from a NYC/or NJ hardcore band. But the vocals are simply awful. Its almost annoying to hear this guy sing. There is nothing hardcore about somebody who cries like a baby..

5 out of 5 stars Sworn Enemy from Queens NY Mother effer.......2006-03-07

Listen up, if you dont like this band for some narrow minded reason other then pure musicianship then you should listen to some mindless garbage like Kanye West, the Pussycat dolls, or loud thumping house trance..
If however, you understand very good instrumentals that infuse outstanding timing on tempo & rythem, then you'll realize sworn enemy is amoungst the best contemporary metal bands in creating awe inspiring metal. These guys can riff with the best of them and I couldnt give a damn what they sing about. Some people choose to complain that 9/11 is a cheezy subject to focus an album around but, what difference does that make when the songs sound this damn good...The slayer influence is there but, their style is authentic with The Thundering fast drum beats, the slick guitar riffs and the rythemic vocals. Sworn Enemy doesnt need out of place melodic choruses to copout to such as Bleeding through to make their songs sound good. SE's music isincredibly dynacic with out any boring fillers...
This band is damn good and I look forward to seeing more albums from them...

4 out of 5 stars awesome.......2005-04-13

2 out of 5 stars This is a little much..........2005-04-09

I purchased this album about a year ago in the midst of a hardcore phase I was in, but looking back, it becomes painfully obvious that this record is a shallow, simple and self-indulgent musical exposition. Is it terrible? No, but it's nowhere close to good, the vocals are typical, so there's not a whole lot of criticism for them. The musicianship appears held back, as the actual music is simple, but precise. The tracks themselves are very forgettable save the first and last track (Sworn Enemy and These Tears, I believe), but are decent for a simple, mindless headbang. Lyrically unimpressive, with random profanity and pseduo-emotion. The underlying subject matter of Sept.11 is respectable, but the delivery could be much better. Overall, "As Real as it Gets" is a good choice for a workout or angst record, but if one is looking for skilled musicianship, diversity and depth, steer clear.

4 out of 5 stars NYHC.......2004-12-04

This album is brutal hardcore. One of the best hardcore albums made in recent years. The album is in the vein of bands like 25 ta life and madball. The energy from this cd played live is just amazing. You have to pick this one up for any metal or hardcore fan.
