5 out of 5 stars V Empire - {Or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein}.......2006-11-02

I adore this EP from how cradle of filth was!! I remember after buying it I could not stop listening to it, Queen of Winter, Throned; was one of the million songs in the early days of cradle of filth had done that changed my life forever. Thus, my disappointment disgust to the newest album now in *06, and how little direction it has. Ugh!!

I'm way too much of a sucker for this band. Yet I have, and will always regard. V Empire, Cruelty and the beast, and dusk and Her embrace the most significant albums that just reek of how original this band once was. No accounting for member changes they still made it shine, in a way of music I will never hear again. How sad!! Hail to the early days of cradle of filth!!

5 out of 5 stars V Empire...Funereal Majesty... Awake........2005-12-16

This is the first Cradle Of Filth's EP, dated in 1995, but its release was in 1996. The only thing I'll say is that this is one of the rarest and more precious gems of this band along with The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh. It was described as:"it sounds as Principle...on steroids". Well maybe it's not as fast as the first Cradle's album, but I swear this EP is one of the best purchases in my life. The sound is similar to TPOEMF, but a bit closest to Dusk...And Her Embrace. Also, there was a lot of line-up changes:Dani Filth(vocals),Stuart Antsis(the new guitars), Jared Demeter(the new guitars),Robin Graves(bass), Nic Barker(drums), Damien Gregori(the new keyboardist),Danielle Cneajna(spoken female vocals), and Sarah Jezebel Deva(inimitable, female vocals). Now I'll make a description of the album, listen:

1-Ebony Dressed For Sunset: this is surely and completely the perfect opening song( this time,C.O.F. didn't put first an instrumental intro). I really love the huge kettledrums' sound in the background, it is like you were in a Vampyrical temple.
The song finishes with screams of horror of girls. Fantastic.

2-The Forest Whispers My Name: this a remake of the same titled song of The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh. The lyrics and the song are the same, the only things that change the track are the female vocals played by Sarah instead of Andrea Meyer's voice; and the sound also change a bit. A great track without doubt.

3-Queen Of Winter,Throned:this song is with the last the best of this EP. It's so very long ( I think it clocks ten minutes and a half), and of course a masterpiece. It begins with a Leviticus' fragment, and so the beautiful intro sets. After another spoken verse, the song arrives to your fortunate ears and amaze you since the start. Before the middle of the track there is an impecable sample of Nic's drumming talent. After the middle, sounds a girl masturbating and I looove this part (sorry...), but I can't tell you what's the best part of this track, cuz I can't decide it. You'll play this track twice.

4-Nocturnal Supremacy: the first time I listened to this song was in the second CD of Live Bait For The Dead. Since the first listening this song amazed me of how is so beautiful and at times agressive(the middle :"The sun descends, Magenta spirits fill the skies. And wreak erotic maladies where Sex and Death abide. From writhing tides where gothick siren weave their song to shore. Through the ashes of the battlefields where ravens and angels war", has not a bad thing. You'll love this song, and those who criticize it, didn't caught the spirit of VEmpire.

5-She Mourns A Lengthening Shadow: this is the instrumental interlude for this EP; and obviously, the track is so beautiful, as the other Cradle Of Filth's instrumental songs. I can't skip it never.

g-The Rape And Ruin Of The Angels(Hosannas In Extremis): this is probably my favorite song of this album, if not Queen Of Winter, Throned. This track will amaze you and take your soul to a further and darker Vampires' world. The song is so f*cking really long, and I beg for more when it finishes! The agression stops with thirty seconds of beautiful keyboards, and then, the agression begins again...and at the end of the track...you can even heard the angel's screams while they're raped...
(PS: to the guy that said the end of this track sucks: do you self-medicate or something f*ckng so??...Where the f*ck that suucks??)
Ok, sorry...coming again, you deserve to have this wonderful EP in your shelves. Believe me, buy this EP, you won't be disappointed.
I suggest you to buy this only if you liked Dusk...And Her Embrace and The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh, cuz this is a mix between the two. Check this out, I swear there is no one bad song in it. Enjoy The Filth and remember Cradle Of Filth will rule FOREVER and EVER.

5 out of 5 stars If you find it, DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY IT!.......2005-08-18

this is Cradle's second actual cd release, and wasnt released in the US which obviously makes it rare here. this is a 6 track EP that is non stop action from start to finish. there is one interlude that really shows how "beautiful" cradle can be and is along with heavy/brutal. track one entitled Ebony Dressed For Sunset is a perfect opening song though its short it still has the insane guitar work and drum beats that will get you ready for anything. track 2 entitled The Forest Whispers My Name. this track was also on the previous album "The Principle of Evil Made Flesh" but i seemed to have liked this one better. this song is Probably my favorite on here next to the last track which i will mention later. #3 called "Queen of Winter, Throned is a song that moves to an awesome halloween sound if you will intro that moves back into heavy riffs and fast double bass pounding on the drums then back into another slower part, i love these kind of songs because it almost reminds me of a scary story where it has its slow begining and elevates and comes back to a slow point and it just feels really good hearing that type of song, anyways this song is 10 and a half minutes long so you have lots of time to enjoy this song. track 4 which is dubbed Nocturnal Supremecy would be considered my least favorite but i love the song so i hope you understand what i mean. its really good but to me in kinda stands out differently from the cd but once again this is no complaint about the song. #5 which is the interlude called "She Mourns a Lengthening Shadow" is close to the top of my favorite fillers if you will. almost 4 minutes long and it has yet again the eerie feel like your in a cemetary and if you have heard an interlude by this band (which if you have a cd then you have) then you know exactly what i mean. track 6 closes the cd which is "The Rape and Ruin of Angels" and this is my other loved track on this cd, this song does the same thing as track 3 only just gets slow once but the way it all comes out is truly beautiful. to sum it up this cd is a must have. its hard to find and costs a bit more than a regularly sold cd but if you can find this then dont pass it up. i would recomend this cd to any cradle fan BUT if you are a new listener to them and probably only heard there newer material i.e "Nymphetamine" and Damnation then i would suggest you gradually listen from there newer stuff into the olden days

5 out of 5 stars Perhaps CoF's Finest Hour.......2005-03-23

I have many CoF albums (Lovecraft & Witchcraft, Midian, Nymphetamine, Bitter Suites, and Damnation and a Day) but this is by far my favorite. Its worth the hunt and the potential extra money spent (I found my copy for $5 in a used cd bin!!) It is super-fast and very ambient, perfectly evoking the feel of the lore of the Vempire. An unquestioned essential to any and all collections of extreme metal. Utter Brilliance!
