4 out of 5 stars Drill: Hard rock from the 1990's........2005-08-01

I didn't know what to expect from this CD as I believed I was getting a new age/industrial album (mistaked Drill for Noise Unit). Whilst I was kicking myself for getting the wrong album I decided to give it a go and after the first listen I needed to know more about this band. Well the band is no-longer around having split and gone their separate ways - however the lead vocalist's voice was unique and actually gave me mixed feelings. Lucia Finarelli's voice has awesome talent and is up their with the likes of Amy Lee and Ellie of Killing Heidi. One moment she is screaming down the mic (quite sexily I might add) and the next she is whispering and singing with deep emotion. Wow what a voice. Drill's only success was Lucia - she was the driving force and with that voice, who couldn't agree?
Yes at times the screaming of the lyrics can be out of hand but this band is of the Hard Rock genre of the 1990's where they were pitted against the giants likes of Metalica, ACDC and NOFX. The two best songs for me on this decent album were 'Butterfly' one of the more softer songs of this album and 'Could You Care' more industrial and a good ending to this 13 track CD.

4 out of 5 stars Lucia is unlike any other.................2003-09-29

I first heard Drill on The Empire Records Soundtrack. The whole cd is really good, but Drill stood out with their track "What You Are". The version on the soundtrack is much shorter than the cd version. I finally found the cd (I had to buy a used copy myself). I was not disappointed. Lucia's vocals are amazing and the songs are well written. She is able to scream and then also achieve her other vocals as well-showing her range. My personal favs include "What You Are", "Go To Hell", "I Like You," and "Over And Out." Drill is no more, but if you crave more of Lucia Cifarelli you can purchase the MDFMK album (2000), as well as the KMFDM albums released after the MDFMK album. A must have (along with this Drill cd) will be her solo album released by Universal titled "From the Land of Volcanos." Check out http://www.kmfdm.net for pics & more info on Lucia. She is one of the hardest working & underappreciated women of rock out there!

2 out of 5 stars uhuhuh.......2003-05-12

Amazing to me that the lead singer of drill is the same person now in kmfdm (and also mdfmk). The music is obviously different frpom kmfdm, as would be expected, but she doesnt sound the same at all. The music is overall good generic hard rock, the songs near the end a little more offbeat, but Lucia's vocals... theyd be alright if she didnt do the uhuhuh thing at the end of almost every verse. Her voice has range, but theres no reason to jump it around so much, its annoying.

4 out of 5 stars very good.......2003-05-04

i saw this band opening up for marilyn manson in 95 in new orleans,i was 15. what was really cool is that after their show they were walking around in the crowd on the floor signing autographs. i had a chance to meet to singer, she was really sweet, awesome, and very beautiful. this is album is completely great from the sexy screams in "i like you" to the dark lyrics in "go to hell" it's excellent!

5 out of 5 stars amazing vocals make this album.......2002-05-03

It's a shame such a great band got dropped from their label. Lucia has now moved on to MDFMK/KMFDM of course, but this material can more hold its own against her work with Sascha & the gang. Lucia's voice is the driving force on this album. The music is good, but with anyone else singing it wouldn't work nearly as well. Lucia can scream. Sure anyone can do that, but she can scream and make it sound sexy. She goes from metal screams to soft singing in a heartbeat and somehow the two blend together seemlessly, giving a great effect. This is intense stuff, but at the same time highly melodic and listenable. The best songs are "i like you", "screamer" and "innuendo", but there's no duds here, every track is intensely listenable. If you can find a copy, this album is well worth picking up, as is the MDFMK album and anything else with Lucia Cifarelli's voice on it.
