Customer Reviews:
What the Gods deserve.......2006-04-28
When I listened to these covers I couldn't believe my ears. Iced Earth presents tributes to the biggest bands ever. The idea of playing covers is to give them a particular touch given by the band that plays the tributes. That's why the songs don't sound the same as played originally. But still, Iced Earth respects the name and history of these musical groups like Kiss which is the band I love the most, and I know for sure that the highest band in the world is honored.
Pretty damn good cover album!.......2006-03-27
I have to say that rarely will I check out a cover album, yet alone buy one, but this one I wish I got sooner!! Iced Earth covers mostly 70s & early 80s tunes but they give these tracks a modern day heavy & raw sound which is nice! They are not trying to perfectly copy the original version of the songs & it sounds like Iced Earth playing them! Definitely cool if you want an upbeat metal album that also gives you a musical history lesson!
ICED EARTH KICKS SERIOUS ASS.....BUT.......2005-08-29
THESE SONGS THEY HAVE CHOSEN TO COVER ARENT ALL GOOD....THE IRON MAIDEN AND PRIEST IS GOOD, BUT THE REST JUST ISNT.
Not very good, unless..........2005-08-11
Not very good, unless you like that low growl voice that doesn't seem to take much talent to generate. At least this singer is able to get most of the lyrics across in an intelligible manner, but it's a disservice to these songs to growl them out. Your own stuff, OK, but not these classics.
Good album.......2005-08-08
With Jon Schaffer's typical habit of doing things over the top, the tittle of this album is TRIBUTE TO THE GODS. Eleven songs (two each from Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult and Kiss - and one each from Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper and Judas Priest)are played with the usual "hard as a rock - no subtlety" style typical of Ice Earth. It's not necessaryin your collection, but serve as curiosity.
