4 out of 5 stars classical music.......2007-02-18

This is an interesting little album. A while back i had found Danzig's first album for 5 bucks and bought it. This album was right next to it, so I naturally picked it up. I didn't know what it was, but figured it was a solo album.

I got to listen to it before i bought it. It was classical music. And i thought, 'What the hell??' Then i thought 'Well i didn't expect this' and lastly i thought, 'I gotta buy this.'

As i listened to this, i thought it was cool and awesome. However, the songs were a bit repetitive and just a little boring. Battle For Heaven being the worst with its gongs and deep bass sounds. But it was still enjoyable and i played it often just to have something to listen to.

There are really no melodies here. I thought that would distract from liking it. But the songs are short and rightly so. This whole cd is only 23 minutes. So, it's short, but still very interesting.

I would recommend this just for mood music, but it doesn't require careful examination like other music. This is basically gothic elevator music.

But it's great and different. If only for that, you should buy this.

4 out of 5 stars An interesting experiment.......2006-07-21

I'm not a fan of heavy metal and so was a bit skeptical when a friend recommended this album to me ("Danzig? You know I hate heavy metal...").

When I was finally able to track it down I was glad I'd spent the time to do so. It's not "classical" per se (more synthesizer than much else and the repetitive themes do get trance-inducing, but maybe that was an intent...?), but it's good nonetheless. Great backdrop for rainy-night RPG sessions.

5 out of 5 stars WAIT, it's not what you think!!!.......2006-07-10

IF you are a Danzig fan: you probably won't like this.

IF you think all Danzig music is dull heavy metal: you might like this.

IF you like contemporary classical music: you will like this.

Suprised? So was I. I enjoy the Misfits, I even liked Samhain and some of Danzig's solo work. But I LOVE this disc. It is some of the evilest sounding music I have ever come across. Think of "Night on Bald Mountain". Yes, Danzig, never one to be hamstrung by what audiences or critics expect of him, has turned out a modern CLASSICAL masterpiece! Something of a cross between darkwave synth and a Wagnerian opera, this obscure gem is well worth owning. Would make a great soundtrack to your all night Dungeons & Dragons game, haunted house or Halloween party!

2 out of 5 stars oooooookkkkk.... ugh........2006-01-20

I was recently given this one and for good reason it seems. The songs aren't horrible but they have one major flaw: They don't DO anything. They all sound like the intros to songs - there is no real completion to them, no real bridge or anything... "Intros" is the best way I can describe them. It's not bad as mood music goes, but that's about it.

1 out of 5 stars HAHAHA!.......2006-01-01

Oh god. I don't know why I even bought this now.
At the time that I saw this album, i was delighted,"Glenn Danzig?!Compositions!!"

but..
when I came home and threw it into my cd player, I was sorely disappointed.
This is nothing but horribly thrown together synth-orchestration.
I can see it now..
Danzig hunched over a casio keyboard giggling to himself and stroking his *ahem* ego. All the while secretly congratulating himself on his so-called 'Masterpiece'
avoid at all costs people. PLEASE
avoid it like the plague.
